What Are You Listening To?

Nah: it’s actually quite on point about how cinema used to be destination viewing and now it’s “content” in an ever-increasing “more is everything” mindset.

You:Scorsese::Spotify:Netflix
Well when you put it that way

But I was just pointing out here last week how annoying some anti Spotify musicians are!!

just saying what works and doesn’t work for me…that was my main point… but I guess streamers jump on the fact I believe streaming doesn’t give artists a fair shake….all this rationalization…  “hey I buy concert tickets!”

could bellyache about streaming but am ok with it if it works for others

Relax
Over the past year or so the reallocation of my entertainment, gas, travel, and haircut budgets have been at least partially deployed into buying and collecting the Vinyl mostly directly from the bands or on BandCamp Fridays; as well as thrifting/estate saling/auction acquiring the used records and CDs, and I stream the bejesus out of Apple Music and Bandcamp on the regular whilst buying concert posters and t-shirts, and this is what makes me relatively "broke," sometimes happy, and also slightly a better person than Yada.  :D

Look, I think we can all agree we are each much better than Yada.

Don't think that comment was ever made by anyone (except maybe by the CEO of spotify)

But how much do you think an artist get's from your 1 cd purchase?  I don't think it's more than $1 and zero if it's bought used

when I buy a concert tix and merch, I'd say the artist probably gets $10, maybe more…maybe less…but of course, they had to work pretty hard for that $10

but even if the 15 people on this board bought 15 cds a month, still wouldn't even come close to the entire market/consumption has totally changed and artist have to figure out how to pry those greenbacks from your hands in new innovative ways…hopefully cutting out as many middlemen who grifted off that $15 CD purchase
I would think that there are a lot of 60s/70s/80s artists are making way more in the steaming economy than they would have if people were going to the record shop or they had to tour…but I don't have any stats to back that up
Good lord people just can’t quit

Major Neil kick .. even rereading Shakey..what a great bio!!

And no I don’t know how to straighten the picture
It has arrived

Totally kickass listening to on home stereo
Cannot wait to blast this in my car
Neil Young - Zuma

Barstool Blues is such a great Neil deep cut

Way Down in the Rust Bucket

Great album for the first weekend in spring the windows down and played very loud!
So good

Imagine being there to see Ry Cooder and after his set Neil pops up surprise with acoustic guitar and a borrowed harmonica and plays pretty much all unheard unreleased stuff including four songs from on the beach

Black Honey - Written & Directed

Found out about this on via a twitter listening party and i'm seriously intrigued by it…  ever song is a total banger… this notion that rock bands don't exist anymore is easily dispelled by this album..  big riffs, sassy vocals, attitude, catchy choruses,  it's all here

My only Neil Young collectible I guess… I never went out of my way to collect Neil

Bought this in late 2019 for $3 which was pretty ridiculous… last great score? These days every time I go to the record store it’s packed and everything seems priced according to Discogs.. kind of defeats the point.. maybe I have enough music

What a great album

Just not sure about spending so much time at record stores digging around the used stuff.. lately it feels like a lot of work for not much payoff
And I am just trying to be “responsible” but what I really want is Archives 2! $120

And a one year Patron subscription to Archive! $99.99

Neil Young just had a zoom meeting there two days ago with 200 or so patrons

Looked dope as shit

I am Neil obsessed lately
