What Are You Listening To?

Can we talk about how great the new Psychedelic Horseshit album is?
babasonicos
the new DCFC is pretty solid on first listen.  several songs sound like they'll be very good live… especially in a smaller club setting ;D
I swear my favorite band right now is Leather. They've only released two 7"s and a demo, but it's just so good. Reminds me of an unsung punk rock band from the 80s called Christ on a Crutch. Just pure, straight-ahead propulsive hardcore.

Also trying my best to get into the new Fucked Up album but it just doesn't have that epic feel of Hidden World. The silver lining is that I've spun Hidden World 5-6 times in the last week and damn, that just might be my pick for favorite disc of the 00s. In fact, for an ad hoc Facebook survey a friend made, called Favorite Records of the 00s, I put that one at #1 because there was nothing else I could think of that I've listened to so consistently. The Knife's Silent Shout was #2.

The Second Annual Esquire Songwriting Challenge: "Last Night in Detroit"

Five musician one great American city, and a simple challenge: write, perform, and record an original song inspired by our phrase.

An exclusive Brendan Benson track prompts me to buy my first ever iTMS purchase and apparently this is the last weekend to get said EP.

I'm admittedly a little late in checking out Raphael Saadiq, but his track in this collection is very good.  A little slice of psychedelic 60s pop.
god . . . i'm so late to everything.

jay reatard is my new god!

i love this musical formula that dictates . . . if you have the power to alter the course of the entire musical being, you die too soon.
and i'm really getting into this deadmau5 character.  my widespread friends will hate me.
Hey guys, can you remind me again why I have to love Cults?

I put it on the other day and thought the first song on there was so good and I was thinking 'oh cool, a good new band' and then next thing I knew I was on song #6 and couldn't remember anything I'd just heard so put a Clipse mixtape on and was much happier.
J. Mascis!

Rekid - Next Stop Chicago, over and over and over
I think all of my favorite albums this year, with the exception of Let England Shake, are by Canadians. Having said that, I'm WAY into the Austra record. Miracle Fortress. Kellarissa. Diamond Rings. All really good stuff.

MC Solaar - Cinquième As

my all-time favorite rap album.  if you speak french, you need to hear this album - the lyrics are incredible.  and for those who don't, i still think this album makes for a very compelling listen.  there's a song in spanish, depending which version you get.  the music is heavy on the funk and R&B with an occasional forray into world beat/ethno/etc.  it's really, really danceable.  opinion among the non-french-speakers i've shared this album with is pretty consistent: "no idea what he's saying, but his flow is contagious".

awesome, thanks for posting that.  will be the soundtrack to my run today.
You are definitely welcome.  I was sure at least a few people around here would appreciate it.
i came across this album at work. fuckin' dope album. might be a few years old but its still better than alot of other stuff i've heard in the recent years.

Catching up on recent Flaming Lips releases:

Overall, decent… that Gummy Fetus release has a pretty rad opening track.  Psyched to hear the Lightning Bolt collab, though!
