What Are You Listening To?

suggestions?

hutch's platinum rule?
I just have to say that the new Best Coast LP is what I feel like I've been waiting years to hear: positive, optimistic, self-deprecating but funny, and there's an energy to it that makes 41 minutes seem incredibly brief. Bethany's grown as a vocalist, and each song is its own entity but as an LP, it flows perfectly. That is going to be such a great show, and with Mannequin Pussy opening, it shouldn't be missed. That's one band that definitely deserves some love.
Alphaville- Forever Young

I didn’t listen to any hardcore or punk in my youth….I guess I listened to synth pop…This was one of my favorites

I think it still holds up

Yes it does. So does "A Secret Wish" by Propaganda.
Never realized there was a volume 2…volume 1 has the classic dialogue that Primal Scream sampled “we want to be free..”

Although I recently came across someone else that sampled that before Primal..name escapes me but I was surprised

where is google pictures
Mudhoney! They used that sample years earlier

You know

We want to be free to get loaded..to do what we want to do

Some such

Never knew it was Peter Fonda

The movie looks as ghastly as Easy Rider…god those hippie movies are terrible
Mahler 9, 8, 7. Loads of time on my hands.

The unsinkable Fats Domino cut so many great records on Imperial…I am getting close to having them all

Fantastic album…many days I like this better than Exile on Guyville

Leonard’s most obscure album?

Does that one contain cheesy synth and drum machine sounds?
Nope

After this came out in 79 he didn’t do anything til 84 which is when the cheesy synth thing began..

The record company refused to release the 84 album in the US …Hallelujah was on it

The CEO of Columbia famously told Cohen when Leonard went to see him to beg he release album in US: We know you’re great Leonard, but is it any good?

Fun fact: Raffi is part of Cohen’s band on Recent Songs

I'm having a hard time following what you are saying here?

We need the sage wisdom of Banana Phone now more than ever.
I know a good song is a good song no matter what, but I have a tough time getting past those sonic choices. So glad I got to hear him perform those songs live on that last hurrah. That band was phenomenal and perfect in every way.
Rub it in
This is a great read
