What Are You Listening To?

So this is an awesome wild ride of an album, kinda all over the place on the shoegaze, drone, lo-fi hissy, post-punk/goth sound. Like Working For a Nuclear Free City, it's one of those long double discs that doesn't immediately have a lot of hooks, but I end up playing it a lot anyway.

On the first couple of listens, I would say this is really good – much better than the last two. Of course, as with every Clinic album, it sounds pretty similar to all the others.

All in all I give it a hearty thumbs up. I like the psychedelic pop and surf tones, but the girl singer's voice doesn't always work for me, especially when she goes into torch singer mode.

I am looking forward to seeing how they do live. Could be a lot of fun.

i don't think this album got enough press, it's really fantastic

have given it a few listens and like it so far - one thing that really striking me this time are the comparisons to nick cave and the bad seeds, obviously different vocal styles but the song structure, call and response remind me a lot of the seeds esp on The Fix and An Audience with the Pope
