What Are You Listening To?

Hannah Williams and the Tastemakers - A Hill of Feathers

Highly recommended for fans of Sharon Jones and Dap-Kings.  Fiery female singer backed by tight funk outfit.

The Moons - Fables Of History

This album is totally doing my head at the moment and will probably in my tops for the year.  It's like listening to the 60s in capsule form.
Hello Children on WFMU

The best thing they currently have going, IMO.

alt-j.  man.  like if the essence of indie and all things hip could merge the gap between coldplay and pink floyd.  how are they this good.  it makes you stop what you are doing, and really listen to what is going on there.

I am loving this band.

Killing Joke
man . . . they are good

Cardinal - Cardinal

Love - Forever Changes

Echo and The Bunnymen - Ocean Rain
Milt Jackson live at the Kousei Nenkin

Not a huge fan of vibes (unless its Tjader) but Teddy Edwards is on this so mandatory.

Cosmic Rough Riders - Enjoy the Melodic Sunshine

Ikebe Shakedown - Hard Steppin'

Menahan Street Band - The Crossing

Bombay Royale - You Me Bullets Love

An Australian outfit doing truly innovate funk versions of Bollywood classics.  Really liking their arrangement of "Jaan Pehenchan Ho" the Bollywood song featured in "Ghost World".  I'll bet they really bring down the house live.

Named by iTunes as their Breakthrough World Music Album for 2012.

i just discovered on spotify these things called 100 of (blank) year, just finished 2011 and on 2012.  discovered some great new bands and added their albums to my playlist.  this band stands out right now.

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection
The second half of the new Yo La Tengo record is some of the best stuff they've ever done. Love it.
Dead Confederate - Peyote People (EP)

Dead Confederate continue to impress me with their special brand of Southern Shoegaze.
You can only grab the EP off of their website:

I liked that Cold Cave album but I'll bet Stellastarr got all mad when they heard it.
i really really dig it.  kinda of shocked that it just grabbed me from the first song, first listen, onwards.  stellastarr?  i will go find them next.
