There are worse kicks to be on than an extended Neil Young phase, that is for sure. One of my all-time favorites and I will be absolutely gutted when he eventually kicks it.

that was a twist I wasn't expecting, Jules thinks that the Clash is better than Neil Young?!

Oh yeah new releases still buying and this looks great..totally in…in for anything Neil
Just not sure about spending so much time at record stores digging around the used stuff.. lately it feels like a lot of work for not much payoff
It's all about the estate sales and auctions for the records, and mostly just the estate sales.

I thought estate sales were super competitive. Folks regularly arrive early and offer cash for the entire lot. Not so?
Record shows have largely been a waste for me but then I’m not the guy who shows up with a massive list (or nothing) in mind. I just don’t have the space to pick up random lps in bulk on the regular.

I have never seen an estate sale that advertised records, completely out of records with an early buy out. They can be competitive, but I am not, so I show up late into the 1st day or even on the Sunday for 1/2 price.
Best I have done is this
https://www.discogs.com/Miles-Davis-The-Cellar-Door-Sessions-1970/master/358845 for $1.00.
Hutch - if you go late in the day, you can do it and be anti-social! I used to go a lot, but with Covid, maybe I have been to 5 in the past year.

Is there a difference between estate and garage sales?
Just never been into it but I know it’s a lost opportunity… My main thing is I am not into competitive shopping.. I also avoid library sales other than the Arlington one

CORONA LOGIC: A LOCKDOWN TRIBUTE TO SUPER FURRY ANIMALS IN AID OF LLAMAU!
These albums were recorded entirely in lockdown by Welsh or Welsh based musicians at home using whatever means were available to them, creating a rich tapestry of sound paying tribute to the genius music of Super Furry Animals.

I'm no expert, but estate sales are typically, "everything must go" and garage sales are usually whatever they have in their drive way/garage.

also with estate sales, someone who has no emotional ties to the items is selling them, they just want to move
garage sales, the people put insane values on sentimental things

Ok those are good points!
These days with an 11 and 8 year old I am lucky to have time to go to the record store.. am not saying I do that much with them - hardly- but someone has to be around to make sure they are ok
But I know if I am whining about the increasing cost of buying used records and can’t or won’t go estate sale shopping where they cost less well that’s my own damn fault…
So am back to where I started which is I am probably done buying much used vinyl…
If anything I am beginning to let go of some of my records.

I mean don't you own every release at this point. I think your house's foundation is starting to sag ;)
