What Are You Listening To?

One of my favorite producers

See his work with Arctic Monkeys and Last Shadow Puppets (first album is one of my favorites)

That’s a tough call

I am not sure how popular she is and her album was sort of wasted in the pandemic…total loss of momentum… she needed to tour behind it over a year ago.. now it’s old and forgotten I fear..

In the meantime, enjoy her podcast!

Just learned about this cover by Chris Isaak of "I Want You To Want Me" which totally works… i guess it's whole elvis/roy influenced The Beatles who influenced Cheap Trick… so Isaak can totally rock this one out

speaking of covers I'm rather enjoying The Specials covers album that just came out "Protest Songs 1924 – 2012" and would totally buy this one if I were living in the UK.  their comeback album left me a bit cold, but this is great collection.

i'm particularly enjoying the cover of  Talking Heads "Listening Wind"

given the acoustic nature of this album, i'm guessing their most recent tour of the UK would have been great to have been at.

I just can’t even pretend this is the Specials… it’s three guys left and no Dammers…if you told me Hall, Dammers and Golding I might buy it

To me this is just Terry Hall taking over the brand…and cutting the other two dudes in for a small piece of action or even worse (paying them a retainer)

Terry Hall is a special talent but he is not The Specials
I mean it was bad enough when they cut out Dammers but then they forced a couple other guys out…then the drummer croaked

Still would obviously go see them if circumstances were right but I think the FFS show I saw was probably the last tour you could argue it was the Specisls…5 out of 7 founding members

and that was a fun show too boot
Yes it was

Nice!

Such a great album…always have slightly preferred it to its predecessor Electric Warrior

Took me a while to realize Ringo Starr took cover picture…Bolan and Ringo I guess were big friends….and those amazing backing vocals are Kalyan/Vollman from the Turtles

Scientist is my current jam…ordered three LPs yesterday..I like the idea of the reissue LPs coming with an extra LP with all the original non dub songs…
