What Are You Listening To?

listening to this one now. obviously very great, but my favorite part of it is that the audience is clearly still viewing him as this pure and noble folk/protest singer and you can tell that bob's like, "suckers, just wait for what i'm gonna spring on you in the next couple years." best moment might be when he introduces "it's alright ma" and the title gets a laugh and he goes, "yes, it's a very funny song."
i love how they presented this both sets of this show, the initial acoustic set and then the big fuck-you balls-out plugged-in set

you have to turn the volume up really loud, but you can definitely hear bob say "PLAY IT FUCKING LOUD!" to the Band after the judas comments and a second before kicking into "like a rolling stone" … spine-tingling moment … i also love his sneering "i don't belieeeve you, you're a LIAR" response to the heckler who said he'll never listen to him again

it was great being able to see video footage of this moment in "no direction home"

anyway, just an amazing historical document, and the music is so great

this is aphex twin's "i care because you do".

repeat of request: if the album title isn't obvious from the image, please write the name of the album, or include a link, or sumthin'… thanks!

and before someone asks: no, i don't think AT's catalog is so well known that it is recognized by the majority on sight.
Oh thanks. I thought maybe it was Meatloaf's sister.

whenever i see this cover i think of his video for "come to daddy" with all the kids' faces like that

i remember watching that for the first time on some late night MTV show and being pretty freaked out

wait, now you're confusing me. you posted bootleg 6, which is the all acoustic show on halloween '64 but now you're talking about bootleg 4 which is the famous "royal albert hall" show. both are great, but i was talking about the all acoustic show where he could still play into people's protest singer mindsets and then spring new songs like "gates of eden" and "it's alright ma" on them, knowing it was just the tip of the iceberg.

bootleg 4 is, obviously, one of the greatest musical documents of all-time. and yeah, you can clearly hear both "judas!" and "play fucking loud." but, oddly enough, bootleg 5 (rolling thunder tour) is my favorite to listen to these days.

upon further reflection, i was thinking about the bootleg series vol. 4 (1966 royal albert hall show) … been listening to way too much dylan lately ;)

speaking of which, i've been digging through this "tree with roots" bootleg that compiles all the available and unadulterated basement tapes, it's a good listen:

Burning Star Core - Challenger

Nice, easily digestable drone-based composition so far. Nothing like anything else I've heard from him.

Ok…I spoke too soon. :)

New eMusic haul last night. First on the list:

Pretty good so far. I still think I prefer Paul being the singer, but the new guy is definitely growing on me. This might be their strongest since the Street Warz EP.
Next:

Not sure why, but I was expecting to hate this album, but figured I'd download it just to hear what all the fuss was about. So far, I'm really enjoying it. I doubt it will stand the test of time, but it's pretty good indie pop for a nice pre-summer day.
Another eMusic:

Not really loving this one. I got it based on a recommendation from Joe and the fact that they're opening the Times New Viking show. I could see them maybe pulling this off live, but on record, it's a little too Desaparecidos for my liking.
Bill Cosby - Badfoot Brown & The Bunions Bradford Funeral & Marching Band

Early 70's jazz album with Cosby on keys; no idea as to who makes up the rest of the band. Sounds like it's all improvised music so far.
