What Are You Listening To?

the feelies - crazy rhythms / in between
new to me - a liitle v.u., motorik, jonathan richman and more - totally missed out on this band.
heard a new track on a mojo comp and it clicked for me.
great stuff.

even I say…why?
did you lose a bet
The new Jesus and Mary Chain record is quite good.
I want to like it, I'm really trying to like it, and when that first song comes on, I'm head-bopping and into it. But after that I zone out and then realize I'm at song 6 and have no idea what I just listened to. I'm not giving up on it yet, but it's definitely "late-era JAMC" which I understand is entirely appropriate since they are late-era JAMC. It's just not the sound I'm looking to re-live.

Also, why in the hell do they use such a tinny-sounding drum machine???? It's so annoying how anemic and lackluster it sounds. Just shell out for a real drummer, goddammit. Losing Bobby (or anyone, really) on drums was the biggest mistake they ever made.

i like it now a lot better than when they first opened there.
david said they will be carrying even more new releases and reissues soon.
and i always get a fair price/trade for what i bring in.
sunday mornings i can usually get there and back home pretty easily.

I guess this is what one could a "guilty pleasure" but I don't feel guilty.. great record….
Lizzy- Vagabonds

I find Lizzy to be one of the few "classic rock" bands that wasn't beaten to a pulp by classic rock radio and they still sound fresh to me…
I listened to the Sugarcubes and remembered quickly how much I hate them even if I love Bjork's voice. so I'm back to King Grizzard and the Lizard Pizard…
Jamiroquai - Automaton

lots of analog keyboard, i'm guessing that jay kay has been noodling with a Moog for the past 7 years… it's as funky as you'd expect.  there are some atonal dissonance/12 tone undercurrents that initially put me off the title track when it was first released, but in the context of the album the sound works.  second time through and i'm loving it.
