What Are You Listening To?

I agree with this
but maybe we need a Album review and reflection thread for that kind of stuff

I do have issue with the blurry and no identifying item that would even tell you what artist/album are type of posts
those are not helpful in the slightest

Space really gets to the why, not just the what.  Do we need a "Why are you listening to Whatever you're listening to?" thread?

If I posted in this thread as frequently as Hutch does, I definitely wouldn't post a mini review of each album. You probably won't hear from me in this thread again for a while…probably the next time I have another batch of new or new to me music to share.

I do think a tiny review of each album might be a helpful prompt for me to want to listen to something. Not necessarily for a Bob Marley live album or the latest Wilco offering but defintely for some of the more obscure stuff.

but do we really need rules?

If it doesn't include the day of the week, it can be reposted by someone else.

Pony - Cosmovalidator

Good thing this is Cosmo validation and not for Kosmo's, because not very validating for Cosmo's

and word is the dude in the middle, going by the name Jimmy James,  is the singer of a successful band now…

They also seem to have transitioned. They being Jimmy, not Pony.

yeah, no body cares about drummers ;)

have you listened to El Dorado? (compilation curated by JJ of recorded material and live stuff after break up)
https://www.allmusic.com/album/el-dorado-mw0000614569
compared it to JSBX
Will have to give El Dorado a listen just for kicks.. the Allmusic review of Cosmovalidator says this and i would agree

Cosmovalidator is a fairly uneven record, even if there's not a lot of variety from track to track – Pony's Pixies constructions pack a tiny bit of punch when they work, but fall flat when they don't. This makes for a release with a few decent tracks ("Prize Fighter"), and several that aren't so good at all.

I went down this rabbit hole because some I follow mentioned they did PR for Pony in the UK at the time and suggested they change the name of the band because Pony in the UK is slang for shit… the band declined to change name

Rocket From The Crypt - Scream Dracula Scream

(the one with a Scorpion on the cover)

It's turned into one of those days…
moved on to Bad Religion - Stranger Than Fiction

this is very apt at the moment

Life is the crummiest book I ever read
There isn't a hook
Just a lot of cheap shots
Pictures to shock
And characters an amateur would never dream up
no raging music yet today…

The Routes - Autobahn

Japanese garage band does Surf/Twangy versions of Kraftwerk songs and it's working for me

Good Day for new releases

on my second listen to

Gwenno - Tresor (Cornish for Treasure)

I'm all in on Gwenno serving up ethereal pop songs sung in Cornish

https://gwenno.bandcamp.com/

New Eric Hilton album Lost Dialect

a nice lazy Sunday afternoon downtempo album
another listen through and yes made the bandcamp purchase for

The Fernweh - TORSCHLUSSPANIK!

https://thefernweh.bandcamp.com/album/torschlusspanik

lots to enjoy here a fine blend of folk, 60s Baroque psychedelic sounds and a hit of Glam on a couple tracks.

had to look up TORSCHLUSSPANIK as it's one of those wacky German words that sort of translates to Fear of Time Running out…

That's funny and makes sense there was a silly sounding german word for that

I've been looking for the right word for the anxiety that one experiences when there is only a few seconds left on your MFA code to type in

I think TORSCHLUSSPANIK works

I will check this out. He’s definitely the better of the two solo.

Well the band's name is Fernweh is also Germany for Wanderlust and clearly a popular band\artist name as there are four different artists on Bandcamp alone with that moniker

back to Torschlusspanik

"Torschlusspanik is a combination of three German words, and literally translated means "gate-shut-panic." Apparently the term dates back to the Middle Ages in reference to the panic medieval peasants might have experienced as they rushed to make it back inside the city gates before they closed at nightfall. Being left outside the protective walls would have meant being exposed to the cold, wild animals and perhaps robbers.

These days though, the definition of Torschlusspanik is more metaphorical, and is far more likely to be triggered by the effects of a mid-life crisis, or the tick-tock of a biological clock."

I also see other albums called Torschlusspanik
Last night for well kinda obvious reasons the chorus of The Message popped into my head…  Turns it was released 40 years ago today

anyways this is very relative today

Don't push me
'Cause I'm close to the edge
I'm trying not to lose my head
Ah-huh-huh-huh
It's like a jungle sometimes it makes me wonder
How I keep from going under
I won't be listening to any more Awake the Rapper.
Confidence Man - Tilt

Again, Again and Again…

just makes me forget about the dreadful happening for a few minutes..

someone uploaded their entire Glastonbury set to Copyright Violation Tube, but it didn't last long  :-X

there is this though… so hot..
