GEDEON LUKE & THE PEOPLE

An almost perfect blend of Sly and the Family Stone and Curtis Mayfield.

The Depreciation Guild gave us chipgaze. Now Crying gives us chiptwee!

No connection between both bands.

I didn't mean to imply that it was exactly the same, just that chiptune music has existed across a wide swath of music (including hip hop, jazz, and metal) over the last decade plus.  I doubt you wanted to actually hear a bunch of the bands, so I just linked Shael's band.

Also, I bet you would like Shael if you met him.  You have the exact same political leanings.
Its a shameless plug I did work hard on these. I have a 5 part remix series I'm dropping at the first of the month. Part one of it are the M.I.A. Remixes.

I'm sitting in the control room at Mobtown Studios listening to Wing Dam record part of their new album (they did eight hours today, I just stopped by for a couple).
(Instrument tracking day)
volcano choir  -  repave  (excellent)
st. vincent  -  st.  vincent  (darn good)
beck -  morning phase  (so slow and reminiscent of mutations, but after only one listen, not as good)
neil young  - live at the cellar door  (fucking, the, best)
real estate  -  atlus  (never heard these guys before, but very nice)
caetano veloso- cinema transcendental (sic)

caetano really is one of my hall of famers…
Nitzer Ebb - Belief; Showtime; and That Total Age (all three albums on shuffle as I work)
people are debating, because what else they got to do, whether or not, this real, or if this fake.

Oh cool!  Oh wait - is Nitzer Ebb stoney folk rock or grindcore?  Or electro-afropunk?  Maybe it's just one note per album.  I wish i knew.
