nina simone - let it be me
from 1987 on verve, apparently her final live recording.
not quite at her best vocally, but her piano skills and depth of feeling shine through.
thanks right on records in herndon.

Red Velvet

Finally picked this up..the second 2LP volume of Ella sings the Duke Ellington Songbook (with Duke Ellington Orchestra)… I have a lot of Ella records but this one proved elusive… I've seen dozens of the other Ella Songbooks but this one rarely pops up.. I wonder if it sold less because the composer was Ellington as opposed to say Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Arlen or whoever (all white)…or what the reason is…..Now I have to get the first volume…
The Beatles- Help! Soundtrack

I guess some of these songs are relatively underplayed so it sounds a bit fresher than a lot of Beatles stuff
The Beatles- Rubber Soul

geez.. every song is a winner…
TIto Puente- Cha cha Puente
This is why I never get around to posting best of year lists, as I'm forever playing catch up…

Teddy Thompson and Kelly Jones - Little Windows
