What Are You Listening To?

It all comes back to the Dicks about once a month for me. This is that time of the month. Heroes of mine.

Immediately followed up with Big Boys, "Fun Fun Fun".

That song is about drugs right?  Because the video certainly is.

I meeeeeeeeeeeean…
Pulled Apart by Horses still pretty much blows away everything I've heard this year.

That being said

New Black Mountain is really good, probably my favorite of theirs, at least in terms of consistency

Cathal Coughlan has delivered another fine album, Rancho Tetrahedron

Have belatedly discovered Florence and the Machine and love it/her

catchy.
I am hoplessly addicted to the new LCD Soundsystem.  Waiting for the new Les Savy Fav to arrive from insound (even though I know it's available on itunes).
The greatest Washingtonian: Duke Ellington

His stuff recorded in 1962.. five superlative albums:

Ellington/Coltrane
Ellington and COleman Hawkins
Money Junge (with Mingus)
Afro Bossa
The Great Paris Concert

amazing what the man could do…

did somebody say dicks coming?
Boy, that new Sufjan EP is lame.  It's like he's ripping off recent Joanna Newsom…which isn't something that SHOULD be ripped off.
Dwank Mob - Moneyquest (parody rap)
Working For A Nuclear Free City - Jojo Burger Tempest (it hasnt quite grown on me yet…)
Film School - Fission (the best stuff by them that i have heard)
Mates of State - Crushes (they have some great covers on there, and they were a lot of fun to see done live)
jamiroquai's new single, "white knuckle ride (radio edit)".  kicks ass.  dunno if jay got stuart back, but the bass is reminiscent of the first 2 albums.

i hope this means a new album soon, and a tour.  that way i could rock out to a funky show and bask in the hate people seem to have for this band  :-*
Can't we all agree that Murray Street should be listed alongside Sister, Daydream Nation and Dirty as a truly essential SY album???
^^ YES!
You guys actually listen to Sonic Youth?

I've always though they're one of the bands where it's better to have the t-shirt than have to listen to them.
Well, I have to at least know the albums that are good to back-up any questions I get when I wear the shirt :)

I dig them; live, on record, and on T Shirts.

Calibro 35 - Ritornano Quelli Di?

Funk inspired by Italian Soundtracks, it's as a tasty as it sound.
Relistening to most Shudder to Think albums today.  You know, they're always better than I remember them…but I never feel that they're great.  Maybe I'm missing something…

1st Tier: Sister, Daydream
2nd tier: Goo, EVOL, Washing Machine, Murray St
3rd tier: Bad Moon Rising, Dirty, Rather Ripped, Sonic Nurse

I haven't heard the others enough to comment on them. Back in the day, EVOL had a much bigger impact than Sister, but Sister has aged much better.
Lots of Broken Social Scene and hoping that their show is better than DC. Soon - new Charlatans whcih Im hearing good things about.
