To my life as I lived it the sound of 1994. Hatch and I used to go to crowbar and people always played this on jukebox. There are plenty of albums from 94 that had a bigger impact on me but this album just felt like the sound of that year. Probably my first exposure to a lot of great music including Jimmy Smith. A few years later I picked up the Root down yellow label promo for $1. Ridiculous score. Still have it. My better half saw Jimmy Smith at 930!!! So jealous. I was- pardon my Space copy- living in Buenos Aires so I missed it. Big regret.

beautiful harmonies^

thanks for the heads up KV

Such an amazing album…. Recorded January 1976 for $6400. One of my best scores was this first pressing in the 2000s for $1 at Orpheus. Not too many of these around. Initially it sold poorly and they changed the catalog number pretty quickly.
I gotta say this is one band I treasure having seen live (even at the tail end).

Why yes I did make myself a hypothetical DJ playlist for a Hoodoo Guru's show.

Secret Life is a collaborative ambient album between British recording artists Fred Again and Brian Eno released on 5 May 2023 through Four Tet's label Text Records

Interesting
Talking Heads - Naked

Today I learned that Kirsty “Makes Everything 10 Times Better” MacCall sang backup on two tracks on this one, specifically the bands last single “(Nothing  But) Flowers”

Also Johnny Everywhere Marr is on five tracks as well.

The stats listed in the “(Nothing But) Flowers” would have been alarming in 1988, I shudder to think what they would be like updated.

well…

I think DJ is so good as a foil to Ash, but I think both solo are kinda stale
Totally agree

I love the song Space Cowboy on this but the rest is forgettable and I had forgotten just how forgettable

Probably not a $18.08 (includes shipping) well spent but i have a weakness for these guys

I guess that’s what a beer will cost at Fillmore love and Rockets show so not too bad
