What Are You Listening To?

Jimmy Fallon's Christmas channel, on Sirius. It's pretty good, compared to the others, at playing the more obscure classics along with wacky banter and Fallon's new Christmas album, which is not bad.

I'm still waiting to hear, "Dominick the Donkey (The Italian Christmas Donkey)" which is always a holiday tradition round, these parts.
Can't stand Jimmy Fallon

Another shoegaze band Whitelands tipped me off on this group who describe themselves as Pop Gaze.  In their own words  “mix of shoegaze/dream pop with breakbeats and dance.”  I can hear some of the Madchester/baggy influences in rhythm section along with the shoegaze inspired guitar and vocals..

Scott Walker - Scott 2 (US gold label promo)

The covers of Jackie and Au suivant (next) are perfection. So much so it’s hard to believe they are covers- translated- of Brel songs. I mean translating songs is not easy but in addition making them fit within the music?
and “The Girls and the dogs”!

Noticed JB LPs are nosediving price wise

Kind of shocking but understandable….

you didn't when you were a kid

that almost all music available is a click away can only have a big impact
Scarcity/rarity doesn't matter much (to most) when you can get almost the exact same thing streamed

For many decades there was a LOT of music that was just impossible to get or listen to and it took a lot time, money and dedication
and a compiled mix was a precious commodity that took a lot of effort to create
Oh I understand but still shocking when I see an original Buddy Holly lp for $10! This was an holy grail record for 50 years! Elvis records are now $3 bin stuff.

The other day I passed on an original JB Sex Machine for $3….just 10 years ago would have been $20.

They actually sound really good here..like they are trying

But the audience recording ain’t all that..sounded better at store with headphones

Recently got the above comp "Now Yearbook '74". Of course, it includes Terry Jacks "Seasons In The Sun". Curious about the song's history, I checked out its Wikipedia page, and what a ride it is.

It was originally a Jacques Brel song called "Le Moribond" (The Dying Man). From there, The Kingston Trio, The Beach Boys, and a dead dog get involved.
