What Are You Listening To?

Nick Cave b-sides cd 1

Cave / Ellis - Carnage

This album sounds more like older Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds than Ghosteen. At times it reminds me Boatmans Call
fun, but neither jane nor serge sing on this
says serge did the music, but thought he was just a lyrics guy
Beats International - Let Them Eat Bingo

first post Housemartins record for one Norman Cook with quite the cast of characters onboard…
There is a track Jane sings

I think the arranger did most of the work not Serge..he just took credit

But I do think Serge wrote the melodies on most of his stuff…he wasn’t just a lyricist

I doubt he did much on this soundtrack

And so ends page 666.

Be Like Water - Sean Hayes

Zurich June 29, 1980
One of their final shows

Great recording…. They actually sound awesome here
Trampled underfoot slays here! I didn’t know Zep was capable of this in 1980! All four tear it up.

I mean, they weren't even 40 years old yet, so yes they could still rip!
dang, now i gotta track down that album.  i love the funky clavinet groove of "trampled"…
Bob Dylan - Rough and rowdy ways

Getting amped up for tomorrow

This is the self portrait leftovers odds and sods LP Columbia put out after Bob left for Asylum Records… the story is always that they put it out over Bob’s wishes….Bob was back at Columbia a year later (Columbia did then delete this album)

Anyways a bunch of covers in his Nashville skyline voice… ❤️
Probably too early in the day for both of theses

Kelly Lee Owens - Inner Song

winner of the Welsh Music Prize and as lousy trainspotter i will leave this description to the experts "An album that bridges the gaps between cavernous techno, spectral pop, and krautrock's mechanical pulse"

The Wood Burning Savages - Stability

one of the better band names i've seen of late… out on tour with Ash and full of blistering riffs..
