What Are You Listening To?

My Bob Dylan/Bad Bunny playlist.

Trompe le monde 4evah!!!
Miles Davis- Kind of Blue

Original mono pressing. I got a rid of a few but still have this one
Trompe is an album I have cranked more than any so I bought the cd of the RSD live edition for the car which is where I do my best listening. It also includes Bossa Nova performed live. I used to listen to the cd of Trompe on my discman over and over when it came out. Volume maxed out! Still remember buying it around release at the Tower Records by NYU. If you were a music junkie this store was Mecca. Floor after floor of music. Escalators! Certainly had to be one of the world’s biggest record stores at the time.

It’s really really interesting to hear Trompe without the keyboards everywhere that Eric Drew Feldman contributed to the original and with far more female backing vocals than I remember.  Supposedly Kim hardly participated in the album. Not knocking the keyboards cause obviously I loved this album but this version sounds grungier and more like the classic Pixies sound.  As is common knowledge this album was released on the same day as Nevermind (*)- September 24,1991- and stiffed although it has its share of adherents - seemingly growing-who have been singing its virtues in the desert of public and critical opinion for decades.

The star of the album imo is Joey! Gorgeous inventive guitar licks everywhere!!

that tower recs at union square was indeed a mecca.  only place in NYC to get electronic music imports from europe at reasonable prices - otherwise it was small specialty/DJ shops where you paid import prices.

My college roommate worked there. To this day, I'm pretty sure that was the highlight of his life to him.
Well to be fair that would be the highlight of many people.

Call me old fashioned but I’ve always been more of the “great sex with a much more attractive woman” or “making lots of money” kind of guy.
Yeah well I am more the guy in hi fidelity who has the record store….

I'M OUT:

Can I use mobygratis music in content promoting meat, dairy, or other animal products?
No, such uses are explicitly prohibited.

Whoa that was a close one as I had the perfect track for my bacon flavored yogurt ad campaign

What kind of legal team do you think moby has?

enough to ensure that he gets every cent you make from your invention…
The Charlatans- ST

Grinderman 2

So glad he did these Grinderman records…
We are family/He’s the greatest dancer by Sister Sledge 12”

This 12” should be in any decent music collection. Sounds so good. Bass pops!

Obviously this is Chic all but in name only.

Neil Young - Chrome Dreams

I thought I had ordered the lp but I ordered and got the cd. And that’s ok.

The cover art is a painting by Ronnie Wood from Christmas 76. I wonder if there’s a story behind it.
