What Are You Listening To?

Speaking of banjos and Musgraves… I'm also smitten with this record as well.  It's bouncy UK pop that has shades of Squeeze/ new wave in the sound and it has glockenspiel.   It also clears away the morning cobwebs, part of "Kosmo's comfort record series"

The Musgraves - You That What I This Way
Toots and the Maytals "In the Dark" on Dragon 5004 LP… just amazing stuff..so uplifting.. half of this album was put on Funky Kingston for the US market two years later…

Really thinking of Toots these days and hoping he recovers from that ridiculous vodka bottle thrown at him in Richmond a few months ago…on the advice of his doctor he's had to cancel his entire tour -US and Europe- due to continuing headaches and issues….
John and Jehnny.  The first project of Jehnny from Savages.  Pretty good stuff.

You mean John & Jehn?  I loved their first album when it came out.  I didn't realize they had any relation to the Savages.  They really sound nothing a like.

Your living in a Trailer Park now?  The score of 88 on MetaCritic?  Or do you like banjos and stuff too…

Turns out I've heard a bit of that album before.  The leading candidate to become the new Smackette is a Country Music girl and Merry Go 'round is big on the SiriusXM country channels.  I feel like I've heard Blowin' Smoke too.
The Primitives - The Lazy Recordings 85-87
Hey AZ, you heard this one yet? Pookie and the Poodlez (Peach Kelli Pop posted it earlier)

Just bought Terence Hannum - Spectral Life EP, Nate Young Regression - Blinding Confusion, and Wolf Eyes - No Answer: Lower Floors to add to my commute playlist for the week (and some Terry Malts).
The Roomrunner debut album to get ready for the show tonight!

Hey DFA1979, arent you James Nasty?  (or did you produce this?)
Steve Earle's Jerusalem

Thinking of trying to catch his show either in C-ville or Richmond later this month if things allow…it been way too long since I saw him at the 930 in the late 90s.. I guess he always plays the Birchmere around here and for some reason I tend to not go to shows there…I'm trying to think what the last show I saw at the Birchmere was and I'm thinking July 1, 2004 Jorge Ben which seems crazy…and that was a bandstand show….  oh wait no it was Liz Phair August 2005… I really don't think I've seen anything there since.. I think I also got off the Americana/Folk train….

99 track compilation to raise money for Tom Carter.  Featuring Richard Youngs, MV and EE, Kohoutek (with a 28 minute track), Bardo Pond and a ton of others. Only 7.5 Euro bucks! Cheap!

This compilation aims to help out with costs incurred during Tom Carter's recovery from the illness which hospitalised him during Charalambides European tour last year. The number of artists who wished to be part of it kept growing & so here it is, a little further down the line than we'd planned, but with so many incredible contributors, we hope it's been worth the wait.

Haven't listened to this album in a few years, so good.
