What Are You Listening To?

Nirvana Live at Reading is f*cking great

I am still in awe of YLAOM's perfection every time I listen to it.

Built to Spill- There is no enemy
Six Organs of Admittance - Nightly Trembling

Speaking of perfection, Ben Chasny can do no wrong.

JC Brooks and The Uptown Sound - Beat of Our Own Drum

The sound of a hard working Soul band that grew up listening to The Clash and what's amazing is that they work  them together without being overtly obvious.

Nadja/Pyramids - Pyramids with Nadja

The perfect blending of metal and shoegaze. Yes, even better than the Alcest album.

I don't think anything else defines "metalgaze" as well.
It's good but, personally, I still prefer the Alcest album.

Which reminds me, I should go post about Alcest doing their (Niege with a band) first live shows ever. All in Europe, of course. Included is some crappy venue in London as part of some big Metal festival.

Love these guys.  Ever since I saw a video on Youtube of them (excellently) covering IATTBYH, I've been listening to the few tracks on their myspace regularly.  I may have to order that album.  They definitely have a nice sound.  I hear the soul and rock influences you mentioned.  I would have definitely checked them out at the Club last week had I not been in Richmond.
The Khan Jamal Creative Arts Ensemble - Drum Dance to the Motherland

I've started this many times but always got side-tracked while listening. Even more psyched for that Chromatic Mysteries gig now.

Know what sounds like an awesome idea?  A Nirvana box set full of rare and unreleased tracks.

Know what's not an awesome listen?  A Nirvana box set full of rare and unreleased tracks.

Yeah I remember buying that when it came out because target had it at some ridiculous price. I think I opened it just because I like to see my new stuff but damned if I can remember ever playing a minute of it.
An interview with Clutch's Neil Fallon. Cool guy.
Jandek - You Walk Alone

This is really nice and accessible as far as Jandek goes.

Sounds like what Kurt Vile must've listened to on repeat while recording Constant Hitmaker.

The similarities are incredibly uncanny in parts.
Lester Young with the Oscar Peterson Trio (LEster Plays) on MGV 8144 DG

Just got delivered. Sleeves are overly tight; had to loosen with metal ruler. Will report later.

Yeah, my desk is a wreck….
