What Are You Listening To?

That's the only way Sinatra would be good

Almost as if Sinatra copied Ween…they only overlapped by a few years in their recording careers…
Saw one of those word of days things and the word is sockdolager - something that settles a matter : a decisive blow or answer : finisher

so of course is it a free band name or already taken and a least a couple groups have claimed it already including one that describes themselves as…

Appalachian funk rock jazz alternative metal boy band from Marietta, OH

so I listened  so you don't have too and well…

actually not as horrible as one would think, not actually my cup of tea but they have the chops and quite slick…

Thanks, man. Claimed.
Louis XIV
Slick Dogs and Ponies
The Sugarplastic
Django Django - Off Planet

Vibing on this as it's another example of a group/band pulling together a cool mixtape of tracks to listen to.

If only shipping from the UK weren't so brutal at the moment…

YES!!
The Black Tones
Cobain & Cornbread
American Laundromat Records Cure tribute cd
Billy Nomates - Cacti
Depresión Sonora

Came across this Madrid based artist and it's quite fitting that he is on that Darker Waves festival bill, heavily influence by New Order. The Cure, etc…

All the tracks are in Spanish and my snarky self assumes all the songs are about cars and girls, but I'm guessing the themes are much darker than that.

now if only hutch would get over his aversion to streaming ;)

couple of older indie EP releases on Bandcamp for him, but he's now on Virgin with a full length  vinyl is available

https://depresionsonora.bandcamp.com/
and no hatchamithingy i'm not suddenly diving in deep to the world of current Spain based bands…

the only other one i'm really hip to is a power pop outfit called Maryland and they definitely going to be singing about cars and girls

Digging this album a lot. It’s more immediate, hookier and punchier than anything she has done in a long while. Jesse Malin co wrote three of the songs and gets a shout out for his  “spiritual advisement “; must have gone to press before he got sick. One song is about Bob Stinson and has Tommy singing backing vocals. Album is dedicated “in memory of Bob Stinson a true rock and roll heart”. Two songs feature Bruce. Curiously, Lu’s singing - post-stroke- is clearer than it has been in a while. Ferrone from the Heartbreakers plays drums on seven of ten tracks. There are a few ballads that recall her slower songs from her prime (Jukebox, Stolen Moments). Margo Price and Angel Olsen help out on backing vocals.

Now I want to see her live again but I think she must have already come through? Edit: Jefferson Theater in C-vile on May 4 was her “local stop”….May have to wait til 2024 or maybe she will announce more dates.
