It's for the kids

you know…the kids
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet:

Built to Spill and The Stills will open for Kings of Leon at Jiffy Lube Live on 8/7.

At their 9/11 Virginia Beach Amphitheatre date, they will be supported by The Black Keys and The Whigs.
9:30 Club 30th Anniversary show on May 31st?
Wouldn't it be more appropriate on September 30th?

I think MGMT and Vampire Weekend are both fine bands on their own merits. Why the urge to compete the two?
Where is the love for the new Wolf Parade songs?

Crazy Quilt Music Festival in Historic Greenbelt

This Saturday May 1st in the Roosevelt Center 11am onwards
113 Centerway - Greenbelt, MD

http://www.crazyquiltfestival.com/Crazy_Quilt_Festival_2010/Crazy_Quilt_Music_Festival.html

Line up is on the eccentric side (Translation - only one Well Known artist whose name I recognize - Olivia Mancini)  Lots of Americana/Folk artists on the schedule.

Looks like nice weather for an outdoor festival and great Lebanese food available in a nearby eatery.
Sounds like all kinds of bullshit!

at RHL.  i can't believe you guys haven't been hyping this show.

When I was at RHL recently for Mastodon, I talked to a woman that worked at RHL who is a big 80's hair metal fan.  She told me that there is one of those music-themed cruises for 80's hair metal called "shiprocked."  Last year Cinderella was the big headliner.  This year, she said it was going to be Ratt.  That cruise sounds like all kinds of awesome.

Also Ratt related - a bunch of friends went to see Ratt when we were in high school, so in their heyday.  My friends pushed up front and ticked off some girl that they butted in front of, so this girl bit my friend Shannon on the arm.  That is one tactic for dealine with being butted in front of at shows.
There's a whole nother thread about a 30th anniversary show. And someone already found reference to The Fleshtones playing on the 31st.

DAGGER…or shall we say DARGGER.  :(
New Black Keys album is fantastic, so I'm glad they're at least coming to DC.
