Just Announced

oh, you should have lived in california, saw that show at the greek theatre in berkeley. . .needless to say it was excellent! got a free shirt from some radio station that was walking around the parking lot (was it 10-12 years ago? yikes)
It was close to that. Maybe just 10, but still, I just felt old as dirt. Still, the attempted show was still a good time, if for nothing else than seeing the fat rednecks in front of me scream "Play some Helmet, you piece of shit!" at the roadies, and then marvel that the previously emptied cup of beer was now mysteriously full again (of rain water). He still threw it back. Now THAT'S metal!

Hmmm, I wonder if some of this show bonanza we're seeing is related to CMJ, which is Oct 13 - 16. We usually get a slew of good shows around that time…

Black Keys
October 6
Ever since their Coachella set, I have been eager to see them again. It's looking like Oct. will also be a busy month.
Same…that was one of the best sets I saw at Coachella short of the Pixies or the Cure.
This Helmet show…last I heard, they were down to two original members and they were gonna change the name to something else. Of course that was back in like October. I can't find any details since then. I wonder what's going on…I used to love those guys back in high school.

I saw The Zombies in some hole in the wall in South Baltimore years and years ago and they really sucked it bad. Was very disappointed because I love their music. Whether they still suck or not, I couldn't say.

Now, with Love playing, that makes it all worth it!
i wonder if that was one of those tours where the only original member of the band was the drummer who was trying to cash in on the name…

as of the beginning of the year the band consists of Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone, with friends and family backing them. Jim Rodford who played bass in Argent is on board along with his son Steve on Drums. The shows have been getting rave reviews, so this should be a great double bill! Can't wait to hear Love kick out some of the early stuff in addition to Forever Changes.

Yeah, that was the one. They gave The Zombies a bad name!

Glad you posted that it's a better and more original line-up now. This one I'd like to catch.
Is this already up…I don't remember seeing it.

Von Bondies
Melissa Auf Der Maur
@ Fletchers 9/26

Wow, what an odd pairing.
Steve Earle will host his own show on Air America. The show will be called the Revolution Starts Now. A pilot is being taped next week and the show will air on Saturday's. More details and showtimes to come.

He's also playing a solo acoustic appearance at an unspecified Borders in DC at an unspecified time this Monday.

Note: His new album, and his last one, both suck.
