Word is that due to lackluster sales for tickets to HFStival 2006,(7,000 of the 54,000) the 2 day event may be moved to a one day on that Sunday. Any bands that can move to Sunday will be added to the lineup. The other option being thrown around is to cancel the event. If this happens the outlook on the HFS music on 105.7 looks doomed once again. The combination of a sub-par lineup and extremely high ticket prices has most likely lead to the slow sales. (4/13/06)

Dave's response: Well, what did you expect? Basically, CBS fucked over alt rock HFS by turning it into a parttime station that can't be heard in the DC area. And now HFS's remaining music listeners are returning the "gratitude"…..

The DCRTV mailbag is hardly a confirmed source, but I can't say I doubt their sales figures (too high if anything) and they deserve their event getting axed.

A) Cat Power's been putting out records since 1994- I dont think she needs The Flaming Lips for indie cred..if anything its the other way around
B) She'll be performing with the Memphis Rhythm band , made of old soul/blues musicians that have played with the likes of Al Green & Booker T's etc
C) her new record is pretty mellow , lends itself to seated enviroment methinks
D) if you dont like her or her music fine, but to call her ugly is really where you went off the deep end…I dont think theres a whole lot of debate on her looks

i believe they were planning on using some of the park/parking lot area to fit more stuff/people…not just the normal pavilion/lawn area.

Actually, there was a whole lot of debate about her looks on this very board, though I don't have the time or interest to look the thread up.
