I've seen a few good ones there – Twilight Singers, Califone, Clem Snide. But lately they haven't booked alot of acts. I'll be there to see Longwave for sure.

Also, Enon is at the Ottobar March 2nd.
I guess for a while there Fletchers didn't have that much competition (post 8x10, pre Recher), but there are a lot more places in b-more for live music nowadays. It'll be nice when more bands start playing both cities 2 nights in a row.

The twilight singers show was great, I hope they/he are coming back around soon. I think he has a new side project, Uptown Lights.
Random Thought: That night, outside his tour bus smelled of molasses for some reason which has led to an on-going Greg Dulli molasses hot tub joke between my roommate and I. (Like SNL James Brown hot tub, except more smoking).

Yep, they're on Myspace. Uptown Lights They're playing a show in mid-February in L.A.

Their website has them playing Richmond on the 24th and DC on the 25th to end to the tour, but venues are TBA.

Excuse the Richmonder who has only every attended one Warehouse show (the previous Enon booking), but where do you have advance tickets available through?
we don't do advance tickets, and we just recently decided to do them for shows that will likely sell out. they will be available through the warehouse cafe and/or crooked beat records. you probably won't be able to call from richmond and reserve one. however, the warehouse will reserve a good amount at the door, so you can get there early.

again, none of this is definite, just likely.

That's cool, I've got a friend who lives right by there and can pick up a pair for me.

yay!! love the warehouse, the one complaint i had last time enon played was getting there super early (because someone told me to) and having to wait around forever. toko translated my flaming lips tshirt for me, so it worked out

that was because the bands were late and took forever to do a soundcheck, not because we weren't ready to open. some bands don't want people watching them soundcheck, no matter how late they're running.

Bobby appears to have an interesting lineup these days…don't know if this will be the Iota lineup…

Along with Loney Hutchins, his regular keysman, tonight's Criminals at Schubas includes guitarist Duane Dennison, formerly of Jesus Lizard and currently of Tomahawk, drummer Doni Schroader, who also pounds skins for And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, and bassist Tom Pappas, also known for his work in Superdrag. Each of this evening's criminals has joined Bare in various capacities on his studio efforts.

"It's an all-star cast," Bare said of his New Year's Eve musical co-conspirators. "Honestly, this is going to be one of the best bands I've ever played with."

Sort of, but not really. They're both quality acts. Both started with a louder, more alt-rock approach and have veered toward a quieter, melodic sound. They work together for me anyway.

Does anyone else think that this is kind of an odd pairing? Yet, I can see this working at Iota. I wouldn't mind going to see Earlimart but not on a freaking Monday night!
i get tons of shit for liking these guys, but i just can't help it.

The business and legal side of things are still being worked out now but thanks to a certain Swede friend The High Dials should be opening for The Sound Track Of Our Lives for their US tour.

Excellent news! I will definitely be there. When is that tour? Feb/March like everyone else?
