Just Announced

Not a must see show for me…$13 for an opener is steep. I'll have to listen to Celeste's BSS cd and see what they sound like, and see how much she wants to go. Would like the see Jason Collett separate from BSS.

Mark Mothersbaugh @ Mission Space (Balt.) - May 1st

I think this may be an art show, not a music gig. But I don't know.

has Embarassed Laura been on the board lately?

also Elefant starts several dates with The National on the 19th in Philadelphia, neither band lists the velvet lounge date yet, so The National may be playing as well or may not
Markie likes the national a lot. They were great supporting the Penis Brothers in NY.

yes
Wow, I replied without even typing :)

This may be a silly question, but when the Pernice brothers play, are there normally two brothers, or is it just a clever name? At the Mercury Lounge Joe's brother came on stage for 3 songs.

I guess it's an art show. His stuff is kind of…um…freaky.

Our friend from NC was at one of the Mercury Lounge shows. The Pernice Brothers have plans to make a live album out of their Mercury Lounge shows. At that point in the tour, I thought they had lost a bit of steam and energy.

Joe's (the lead singer) brother Bob is officially in the band, though I've only seen him play once, a couple of years ago. Bob hadn't been playing with them on tour because (I think):

a) his house burned down a year or so ago, and he has been rebuilding his life
b) He has a day job (an accountant or some kind of financial related job) that probably pays better than being the second guitarist in an indie band that puts out its own albums

Joe's wife Laura is also the normal keyboard player, but she didn't tour with them this time either, maybe in lieu of her career as a graphic designer. She waas replaced by the British guy.

Their normal drummer, who also drums for the Sadies, was not with them either. He was replaced for this tour by the drummer for the Bigger Lovers, who are produced by Thom, the PB bass player.

We went to the first night, Friday. They didnt seem to be flagging. If that show is made into a live performance you will get to here Lisa and I heckle in front of a stunned NY audience.
we can only hope i reckon…

in other PB news, they're touring Ireland, the UK, and France in March, and are planning a US tour with the Long Winters in April.
