Thing is, I'll probably get about 20 tickets. It's a friend's birthday, and he LOVES Cheap Trick. I'm a little worried the show will not happen - my skepticism at work. Especially with Pollstar. But the head's up is awesome – thanks Rhett and Bede…
hmmm, it sounds like a good idea to me!
oh, contact the o's about group ticket pricing. . .you might end up in the upper deck for the game, but you might get a discount on ticket prices.
FYI, descriptions of Warehouse show Friday….
BIRDMAN, PLANARIA & FUKCLEARCHANNELIHATEYOU PRESENT:
TOMORROW
FRIDAY MARCH 12
ALL AGES â?¢ $10
DOORS: 8:30
THE APES (Midnight)
MODEY LEMON (11:00)
GOGOGO AIRHEART (10:00)
KILOWATTHOURS (9:00)
APES are not your average band in sound or in concept. They compose songs around drawings they make and compose drawings around stories they imagine, stories that would burn green into the eyes of Philip K Dick, Jorge Luis Borges, and Ray Bradbury. MODEY LEMON is a 2-man trash rock band from Pittsburg playing a hurricane of sound for B-Movie Rock and Roll. GOGOGO AIRHEART combines the diverse territories of disco, post-punk and the art-rock glam classicism of The Stooges in a stunning display of slippery funk bass lines, jagged guitar cuts, scathing vocals and polyrhythmic drumming. Born in Louisville, KY sometime around 1997, KILOWATTHOURS adapted to a constant change in environment by becoming increasingly grandiose and triumphant. With its
line-up evolving nearly a half-dozen times, they've since settled into their new position as one of New York City's loudest pop bands, boasting as many as three guitars wailing over keyboards, bass and drums.

Get Up Kids at Recher on Sunday is sold out. Wonder if *anyone* cares…. ;)
Originally posted by Bags:I care…been listening to their new album (a review shortly on BigYawn) and it's really good. More mature….have you ever heard the New Amsterdams, Matt's other band? They're pretty cool too, much mellower sound, but I love his voice.

Good to hear, redsock…I haven't gotten the new album (yet), but enjoy the previous two (that I have, at least – I'm no afficionado, and just kind of have an impression that they only had two previous albums). I think I would have checked them out, now I'm Mekons bound.

also i don't know if it's "The Alarm" (Mike Peter and new bestest buddies), as it's not on the official tour schedule. But via pollstar, a band billing themselves as the Alarm are playing the Hard Rock Cafe ciruit 3/23 DC 3/25 Baltimore, might be worth going along to snare some Alarm merchandise, avoid the food, etc. shame they aren't playing the mojo

plus kudos for the 'FUKCLEARCHANNELIHATEYOU'…so true.
Okay, someone was just talking about Destroyer, because I looked it up (it's one guy, right). Gggrrr, I wish we could search on this thing!! Can't find the thread where he/it was mentioned, so here:
To add to Pollard's heads up that Destroyer is coming to town soon – ;)
Destroyer, Tuesday, May 11, Iota

Well I was one talking about destroyer so thanks much. Iota's getting quite the number of good shows this year, it seems.

Hmm, maybe that wasn't me you were referencing then. I was talking about his new album (which is better than his previous one, methinks). I thought he came through town a while ago - I see a stop at Black Cat in November, 2002; but that's the most recent I can find.
It is in the albums in 2004 thread, right before I said he is coming to Iota soon :) .
