This bill could almost be a description of The Descent.

So who has the DK name now? I know there were a lot of legal issues and whatnot. Is it Jello and a bunch of hired hands or is it East Bay Ray and a hired hands, including singer?

If Jello isn't there, it's not DK. Love EBR's guitar but that's not the star of the show. I spent all of 45 seconds looking at the official DK site and couldn't figure out which band is touring.

I'm pretty sure it's Ray. Jello has stated many times that DK was over for him, and the original lawsuit was by Jello to stop the others from continuing to use the name. I guess he lost?

Sad indeed, but nowhere near the utter disbelief that "they" (those evildoers trying to destroy the musical universe) were marketing this weekends Sonic Youth/YYY's shows in NYC… "with special guests Sonic Youth." It was going to be the last straw, until someone pulled their head out of their ass…only a year or so after Ash somehow ended up opening for The Bravery…and now that my ire has been raised, this whole album sales barometer for how acts are booked and categorized sucks ass, I saw the Killers open for Stellastarr at Fletchers, an admirable job indeed but in a position they should have been in, and it couldn't have been more than six months later they were headlining a show at Merriweather (I exaggerate, but the point is…) well there's not much of a point, just bitchin really..
Is She Wants Revenge that band that rips off Interpol who in turn rips off Joy Division?

thank you for that info.! i almost thought that it would be a good show, since i grew up a skater punk worshipping those guys. but would a show now, with jello, be worthy of the d.k. name?

Yes. I would like to take some revenge out on them!

personally, i think SWR just straights rips off Joy Division. perhaps the vocals sound Interpol, but the music is more Joy Division than Interpol. (and by that i mean, they are ripping off JD more than Interpol is)

wont it be exciting when we're all like 60 and we can play "six degrees from Joy Division"!!!

Only if they were booked with someone like Fear as the headliners.

-Edit- Wait a minute. I read through your post too quickly. I thought that you said "without Jello". My mistake.

But a double bill with full out Jello DK (all of the originals) and Fear would be cool.

I think its better to compare She Wants Revenge to Interpol out of respect to Joy Division. Let's not compare Michael Bolton to Frank Sinatra just because he tried to do an impersanation.
Tokyo Police club added to the Art Brut/Spinto Band show.

Yippee! Any word on whether they are playing DC? October is going to be so busy.

yes. and yes again. in fact, the lead singer of SWR doesn't even PLAY AN INSTRUMENT. i think they hired him exclusively because he makes them sound even more like interpol. which is just bad.
Aren't they opening for Massive Attack during the east coast portion of their tour?

That's the hope (certainly is mine!), but I haven't seen that confirmed anywhere.

UPDATE: just got this from Massive Attack's forum:

Posted: Sat Aug 12, 2006 3:09 am Post subject: TV On The Radio Not Opening

——————————————————————————–

TV on The Radio won't be opening for Massive Attack on this tour. Just like DJ Shadow, they will be doing their own tour.
They just announced a TVOTR show here in San Diego at the Casbah on Monday September 25, the day after the TVOTR Massive Attack Hollywood Bowl show. And since Massive Attack is already playing the Open Air Theatre at SDSU earlier on September 20, TVOTR couldn't possibly be opening for them.

I guess they could, but that would be a little ridiculous. Besides, the venue that TVOTR is playing here in San Diego is strict about bands that play there. No playing in town 2 months before or after they play there.
That's West Coast talk, though… the original question here was about East Coast portion of the tour. Dunno.
