Cornershop 11/20

Maybe they are more popular than I assume (and I wouldn't mind seeing them) but does anybody really think they'll draw more than 200?

Awesome! I'll be there…

Handcream for a Generation is one of my favorite party records

Agree they seem to have lost some popularity but who knows… also a friend who saw them last time said they were real jerks!

Yes and yes!!!!! I was bummed to miss both Deakin and Prince Rama at Whartscape….
DJ Dog Dick should be headlining.
Are tickets for this on sale yet? I imagine they won't last.
tickets go on sale Friday
El Tee does it again.
The Frames 11/21
Thanks, Easter Bunny!
I would have also asked for Ingrid Michaelson, she's all right but I guess for shits and grins, to see if I could predict her appearance. She's already scheduled: 10/14.
Would have also asked for Joshua Radin (although….I think I asked for him long ago?). Anyhow, he's scheduled 11/2. (yet, he tweeted he's canceling some shows, but doesn't say which ones)
Both are $25, which seems to be base price for the club shows these days.
(Sorry for the commentary, but I incorporated it into announcements, Koz;))
I haven't seen this posted, but this sounds interesting:

Peter Hook performing Joy Division's debut album Unknown Pleasures
12/1
9:30

It should be noted that his band includes Mani (Stone Roses), Rowetta (Happy Mondays), and Howard Masks.

I'll probably check this one out.

damn.  Ill probably be there as well.
Wow. I'm all over that.
Hey Jaguar,
Thu Sept 30- SCREEN VINYL IMAGE, THE SKY DROPS, CEREMONY $8 Backstage 9:00 (On sale Fri Aug 13)
Too bad this conflicts with The Books.
Maybe I'll be able to catch part of Ceremony and all of SVI.

Fri Nov 5- ROKY ERICKSON $25 Mainstage 9:00 (On sale Fri Aug 13)
I like the Elevators and all but I'll bet $50 that this won't be 1/10  as cool as George Kinney at Velvet last month. And it is 2.5x the price.

Not a fan of The Books so no conflict for me but I don't know if I can make it down. Time will tell.

However, I plan to try to attend The Ottobar show the week before:
Sept. 18th - THE FLYING EYES, SCREEN VINYL IMAGE, THRUSHES, THE VANDELLES

Also noticed and would like to see Woven Bones:
The Ottobar
Oct. 19th - WOVEN BONES, FRANKIE ROSE AND THE OUTS, & GUESTS TBA

Some of you old farts might like this:

The Ottobar
Oct. 27th
HUGH CORNWELL (former lead singer, The Stranglers)
Come join us for 2 sets:
set 1 is The Stranglers Greatest Hits/Hugh?s solo material.
set 2 is The Stranglers? classic "Rattus Norvegicus IV" in entirety
Another one for those of us who like hypno-music. My highlight would be Dreamend.

The Ottobar
Sept. 11
TOBACCO (Black Moth Super Rainbow)
JUNK CULTURE, DREAMEND, & GUESTS TBA
This looks bizarre enough to possibly be entertaining.

The Ottobar
Aug. 27
B.I.M.A FEST NIGHT 2
SMITHS/MORRISSEY TRIBUTE BANDS SPINELESS SWINE, &
THE SPEEDWAY OPERATORS (ROCKABILLY SMITHS TRIBUTE)!
ALSO, A SPECIAL SCREENING OF "PASSIONS JUST LIKE MINE"(DOCUMENTARY ON LATINO MORRISSEY FANS IN L.A.) & TALK WITH DIRECTOR KERRI KOCH!
PLUS…LIVE SETS FROM CUTLERY, THE COURTESY LINE, & RED THIS EVER

Friday night… calling all jailbait-seekers. You'll scarcely be able to identify spilled beer due to the flash-flood of teenaged girl-sweat that's gonna hit the floor that night.

They're already playing one Virgin Fest in town… now they're playing another.

Count me out.
