I didn't understand the intitial mention of the show either. Although a slight criticism of Rage, I understood and agreed with the question: why post here – where the heck is Alpine anyway?
"The Alpine Valley Music Theatre is a 35,300-capacity ampitheatre in East Troy, Wisconsin. The seasonal venue was built in 1977, and it features a characteristic wooden roof covering the 9,000-seat pavilion, and a sprawling lawn. The theatre is located roughly equidistant between Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago, so draws a wide regional audience."

i think it was worth mentioning because this is the kind of high-caliber show that gets people on an airplane. i'm kinda considering it, but i try limiting myself to one concert-related plane trip per month (and i've already got lolla in august). i'm willing to bet that QOTSA will get more than a 45-min opening set, especially if no one else is added to the bill.

Sat Aug 11- THE CRIBS, WHITE RABBITS $10 Adv/ $12 DOS Black Cat Mainstage 9:00 (on sale June 22)

I'd go see White Rabbits and skip The Cribs.
The Cribs are kind of like a UK Indie hot dog. There's a little Franz, some Monkeys, a Manic Street sheen and all of it wrapped up in a Libertines bun. But the songs are really catchy, and the band puts on a very lively, fun show.
And the new Cribs album is damn good, don't sleep on them they crank live.

I'd hope they do. Queens are really tits when they get to play a full set, granted their opening set with NIN was still top notch. I would give a finger to go to this show, man.

Yeah should be a fun show. I was let down by Beach House the one time I saw them but they were an opener and you know how it is with openers and less than stellar sound. Papercuts put on a decent show that night too. Maybe Beach House will sound better as a headliner.

i actually saw them live once, not that long ago (few years), and it was the worst trainwreck of a "comeback attempt" concert. the crowd was so not into it and the group seemed to really be getting pissed.
