Is he the dismemberment plan/thievery guy? I don't think we ever saw any definitive proof. At least I haven't seen any.

But Alex does make an interesting point: Jay-Z in a club (or SP, or Incubus, etc) will eventually get to $100/ticket because of fair market economy. You all would bitch if it got that high via scalpers, now you're bitching when they're that high to start with. Perhaps your real complaint is with supply and demand.
Originally posted by Julian, good manners AFICIONADO:personally, i would rather they get marked up by scalpers than have the price higher in the first place.

I can tell you this much, higher ticket prices kill scalpers' business, and the money instead goes to the artist, venue and promoters instead of lining their pockets…which is ideal, considering the artist, venue and promoters are the ones doing all the work to entertain you.
It's not ideal because 90% of tickets are bought at the list price and not the scalpers price. Higher ticket prices at the box office just means 100% of the people get stuck paying the scalpers price.

So, it's better to force the ~95% of consumers who don't currently pay scalper's prices to pay those inflated prices just to cut off the scalpers?
Sounds like a bit of a Pyrrhic victory.

That's what I thought.
