I just read an interview with him in Radar and he's just worthless. He's not even rated enough to be overrated. He just drones on with that "Oww! I'm a dark, mysterious, brooding Aesthete who was in Birthday Party!" "Music will save the world!" "Radiohead are fools for giving away music!" "Religion humors me!" Almost as useless as Lou Reed but that's not possible. An alt-rock Goober Pyle who's mysteriously treated as a legend.

Brian
Have you ever seen him live? Incredible!!! To tell the truth, I much prefer him live than recorded though I do like the recordings also. Not for all tastes. I can understand you not liking dark, brooding music but if you're going to be fair, you have to admit the guy is talented.

But that's okay. I don't want everyone to like what I like. Then I'd always have to deal with sold out shows which really annoy me to no end. That is, if I could even get my hands on a ticket. But Nick will be sold out nevertheless. Good for him!

No shock there.
I've always thought you and Brian were one and the same.
Two pathetic people that need/find attention on a board.
I think a lot of music sucks, I just don't find the need to address it on a website to make myself feel superior to others.

P.S. Please recommend some of the "genius/good" Nick Cave.
Let Love In, The Boatman's Call, and Abbatoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus.

Start there.

Seriously, he is a force to be reckoned with, both live and in studio. I have such admiration and respect for that man. I could always make you a mix, Brian…I mean, I think some of his best tracks are his B-Sides, and I know you probably wouldn't want to start there… :D

Does anyone know anything about a presale for this, btw? It will sell out instantly, I'm guessing.

The fine upstanding gentlemen from Maryland strongly concurs with this statement.
Let's face the facts Slappy.

The fact that you confuse me for Brian speaks more for the fact that you have a low intelligence quotient than the fact that you have poor music taste does. The fact that you like hockey doesn't help your case either. :p

Brian is the best thing to happen to this board since Flawd.

By amazing luck, I guess I just listened to the fifteen bad, boring Nick Cave albums and none of the good ones. What are the odds of that?
I find that hard to believe.

Brian you really are a little asshole. I always try my best not to feed trolls, but dude, get a life. I'm sometimes amused by you in the same way a chihuahua is funny as it hides under a bed barking and growling trying to act tough. A neighbor of mine when I was a kid had a dog like that. Your name's not Georgie is it? Never saw that dog in full view, just heard it. Georgie was such a one trick pony. Annoying yet feeble and pathetic, just like you.

That said, Murder Ballads is my favorite Nick Cave album, with probably 4 or 5 others a close 2nd. And the one live show I've seen is in my top 5 of all time.

Thanks Seth!!! Gott keep an eye on this board for the pre-sale/on-sale
I don't like Nick Cave either, and I've seen him live. You all can go and have your good time. I don't get it, I didn't enjoy it, I thought he was very pretentious and when you can't tune your fucking instruments correctly, yes, it means I will not like you live.

I haven't seen Cave live but I've enjoyed his recordings. It's very likely that the instruments are tuned correctly for the sound that is intended. Many instruments are not tuned to exact pitches because the resulting sounds are more interesting. 12-string guitars and gamelan are just two examples.

Is Warren Ellis (of Dirty Three) still a Bad Seed? If so than there's reason alone to check this out. He's incredible. Nick's not for everyone I guess though some tracks certainly cross over ie Mercy Seat from the album Tender Prey. Such a great record that one!

Wow is right. That is an impressive lineup. I think I might make that a birthday present to myself.

Nobody cares whether you or Brian likes Nick Cave or not. Clearly it's not for everyone…and any opninion is fine here as far as I am concerned. It's just Brian's infantile piss-pot reactionary contrarian stance on every thread of this board that is getting old.

A "contrarian stance" would indicate that I say these things JUST to oppose and stir things up. I don't. I (and many others) feel this retro alt-rock deification is embarrassingly stupid. It probably makes you feel more secure in your opinions if you believe that people don't really hate Nick Cave, Lou Reed, Led Zepellin, etc. But they do. They really do. Sorry, to upset your carefully constructed world view.

Iâ??m sorry. I donâ??t have any gigs to announce which is the purpose of this thread.

Brian
chaz, very well put - 100% agreed about wallace's piss-pottiness.

yes, you do.

i think MCR and FOB are jokes, insulting to music, corporate puppets, etc. do i go starting a million threads every time one of them is in the news? nu-uh. although pointless, here's a polite suggestion: take a page from rhett/charlie, who often disagrees or does like the same things as many people here: voice your opposition in a funny way, keep it short, and concentrate on stuff you do like. other than MCR and FOB, who are no longer fresh, who do you like brian? i'm always up for new music suggestions.

you never do. you only have one purpose: to complain, in a very juvenile way, about the same damn thing. yawn.
hey start your own commentary thread, it's been asked here several times to do so… shock horror people actually visit this forum to find out info and this happens to provide some of it..
move along people, nothing to see here….
