Classic rock fans will have an opportunity to tap into a recession-relieving concert with the 2009 Can't Stop Rockin' tour, featuring REO Speedwagon, Styx and 38 Special. Ticket prices will be available for as low as $13.50 in most markets.

Presented by VH! Classic and Rock Band, the tour begins May 13 in Albuquerque, N.M. In acknowledgement of the tour, Styx and REO Speedwagon teamed up to record a new single, ?Can?t Stop Rockin?,? co-written by REO Speedwagon?s Kevin Cronin and Styx?s Tommy Shaw. ?Can?t Stop Rockin?? makes its radio debut in March and will be available for download.

the big wooden shed at wolf trap.
The Bird and the Bee either recently played or will play the barns soon. Now that's a bizarre booking for them.

Was the venue of their last area appearance (Jammin Java) more appropriate?

I'm very oddly intrigued by this…

But it is the same week as Cohen.  But tickets for the Lyric show start at $22, so it might be manageable.
OMG this looks all sorts of ridiculous and awesome!

Bang on a Can Marathon
guest artists Terry Riley, Marilyn Nonken, Esther Lamneck and Glenn Kotche

The Bang On A Can (BOAC) All-Stars return to the Center with a one-of-a-kind festival of new music, including an afternoon and evening of free and ticketed events.

The marathon kicks off at 2PM in the Kogod Theatre with Moog synthesizer demonstrations by UM dance percussionist Bob Novak. At 3PM, the All-Stars will take over the Center?s Grand Pavilion for a free performance of Brian Eno?s rarely performed ?Music for Airports,? taking advantage of the lofty spaces and the interior surfaces to transform the site into an aural adventure.

At 4:15PM, the action will move into the Gildenhorn Recital Hall for 90 minutes of free music featuring students of the UM Percussion Ensemble and Bang On A Can performers. The program will also include special appearances by pianist Marilyn Nonken and clarinetist Esther Lamneck, who will perform works by School of Music faculty composers Lawrence Moss and Robert Gibson, Director of the School of Music.

At 6PM, the marathon?s featured performance will begin in the Dekelboum Concert Hall, featuring Bang On A Can All-Stars, Glenn Kotche and Terry Riley in three sets of innovative sounds, including area premieres of the following:

Glenn Kotche/Steve Reich: Clapping Music Variations
Glenn Kotche: Mobile
Glenn Kotche: Snap
Terry Riley: Autodreamographical Tales
