Wow, now that's information I can really use. Thanks.
do they have any cash machines in the DC area, such that I could use them and not be charged a service fee? I suppose if not, I cold leave some money in the account of my bank that doesn't pay jack shit butallows me free withdrawals.
How often and why are you using cash?

What are you, the IRS?
I try to pay with my credit card (airline miles program) whenever possible.
But occasionally one needs to pay with cash. You know…tipping the hairstylist, tipping the dog groomer, hookers, blow, etc.. Doesn't the Black Cat only take cash? I'm going there this week.

I can't imagine space paying for haircuts. Seems like a job for your partner.
I tip in venmo quite often.

No joke, those are some insane rates
4.6 for a 12 month cd with only $500 min
Nobody is even close on bankrate.
Savings rate is decent, way better than most
Yes black cat only does cash
My reco for avoiding fees at ATM's is to plan ahead
you could open a checking account at Wellsfargo, BOA or CapOne and set up transfers from your bank
It's fairly easy and free to transfer money between accounts, you just have to wait a few days for the cash to appear
Some banks will reimburse a certian amount of ATM fees too
https://www.bankrate.com/banking/these-banks-reimburse-atm-fees/
I use Ally and they will reimburse $10 a month, so 2-3 free withdrawls and pretty much no fees, decent savings and cd rates, but not quite as good as CFG
this includes sketchy $5.95 fee ATMs and the like
Lastly, you can get cashback at your grocery/gas store visits…just you are typically limited to $40

My wife has offered to cut my hair (she sometimes has cut our daughters), but I'm a bit fearful of the results, as she's not professinally trained (also, I see the mediocre result my brother gets from the spouse cut.)
Another benefit of going to the stylist is you get an attractive woman massaging your scalp, pretending to be enthusiatic about your small talk, and not yelling at you about petty shit like accidentally leaving a a kitchen cabinet door open after you've made everyone dinner, washed their dishes (including the dishes stacked in the sink from all day long that they were "too busy" to wash), and put the dishes away.
I did the Venmo tip during COVID, but cash tipping just seems more personal.

My current bank card allows for reimbursement on ATM fees no matter the machine (as long as it's an actual bank machine and not one of those fake ass ATM machines I guess.) Though oit doesn't pay anythin for savings. Hence, my desire to plst things up.
