Just Announced

kudos to RnR Hotel's talent buyer/booker…I was amazed at the amount of good shows for the upcoming year!

3/4 - Rob Crow (of Pinback)
4/25 - John Vanderslice
5/15 - Mono
5/16 - Frog Eyes

They were closed for a few days last week. Any word if they fixed the sound?

That's too bad. Mad Caddies are light years better than Pepper. I would definitely go if it were the other way around :(

Alas, Rishi has left the High Dials. This is a severe blow to a good band. I don't know how the rest of them will fare without Rishi's vocals, musicianship, and sensibility.

It's strange - the band's Myspace page has been updated with new shows (in March) and some details about old news. No mention of his departure.
Really?!? That blows. Great band, but i also have to wonder how they'll handle this departure. Kinda surprised they are going to continue on, I thought he was always credited as their main songwriter.

A little birdy also tells me the Walkmen are also confirmed for sometime in the spring at th RnR. It looks like the RNR guy will also be taking over DC9 and maybe the Red and the black too. He has done a fantastic job thus far…

FUCK YES! and its February 24th and 23rd, according to Sonar's website it says February 24th so i'm assuming the 930 show is the night before that.

EW! THe Panic Channel was also just anounced at Sonar. gag, they fucking suck.

i'd hang on to your assumptions a tad longer… could be that the sonar website has a typo. according to pollstar, he's playing sonar on 3/24. no mention of 930 club, tho.

Either way tickets aren't on sale yet. I'm gonna spread the word to a few of my friends, we went to the tent at Virgin Festival when he was there but only caught the last 15 minutes of his set.
The Sonar website is incorrect :) I got the dates directly from the booking agency…

Trevor does alot of the songwriting, too. Perhaps most of it.
I really like the High Strung, I think more than the High Dials. Haven't seen them play new material…

PS, I'm glad you get them confused too! I thought it was just me…

Oh, no!!!! Not to mention his sitar playing. It's not like you can find a sitar player who also plays a damn fine bass on every street corner. Wonder if his wife is pregnant? Bet you anything he's decided to give up the band to make for a stable foundation for his new family.

Redsock, I'm pretty sure that Trevor does most of the song writing but Rishi and Robbie add their things too. Maybe Rishi a bit more than Robbie but Robbie is one damn fine guitar player.

And here the band were just starting to make headway and pick up a few good fans in Europe.

Wow that is really bad news. Personally I didn't really fall for the obligitory sitar interludes during their sets, but he is a GREAT bass player and backup singer.
I heard he left to join Fall Out Boy. That band makes money, at least.

WTF?!
dunno, check it out yourself… R'n'R hotel is now a live nation venue?
The Live Nation aspect is shocking enough, but I still can't believe Stellastarr* is playing at the Rock 'n Roll Hotel. No offense to the RnR Hotel folks, but I'm under the impression that it's a fairly small venue? Stellastarr* has sold out the Black Cat and has come close to selling the 9:30 a couple of times. Is this some kind of House of Blues-related backlash?
Stellastarr will likely be test driving the new material prior to the new album release in the spring. But as far as how the fate of band can change in relatively little time, it's been less than 30 months since the KILLERS opened for STELLASTARR at the itsy bitsy Fletchers Bar in Baltimore and I don't think think the bands differing trajectory has ANYTHING to do with the quality of their latest outputs, it's a fickle world folks….
