Just Announced

It’s hard to mess up Bob Marley

The dude is not even Jamaican!

I mean neither was Al Anderson but his guitar licks were tasty…

Nope. Marvin is just not a nice man and I personally find his “rockish” guitar on Bob Marley music really grating and he is a poseur. I have seen him once or twice…He lives in the area and is always playing here

It will have to be Sidehatch and Space getting together

I have to be honest, I thought it said Junior Murvin of Police and Thieves fame (RIP 2013)
Was unsure why he was with the wailers…so my bad

I thought for sure the mini-starskies would enjoy rocking out to Rocknoceros

also I know how much you Love BBKing, thinking you'd want to be there for his band ;)

edit- TIL
Murvin's first commentary was "They have destroyed Jah work!"
and
Lee 'Scratch' Perry considered that the Clash had "ruined" the song with their version, but later agreed to work with them nonetheless.
Would have never thought the venn diagram of Julian and Jamaican legends would cross
I would definitely go see Junior Murvin if he comes back from the dead!!!

And Landmark didn't sell well enough for it to become a tradition in DC.

Landmark Fest didn't return because of poor sales, it was because special interest groups soiled themselves over a rock concert being held in a federal park without "equal opportunity" access.

The reason Landmark Fest didn't return wasn't because of poor sales, it was because special interest groups soiled themselves over a rock concert being held in a federal park without "equal opportunity" access.
You think that's bad, let me tell you about a festival with Radiohead, Beck, Blur, and Elliott Smith that got cancelled because the grasshopper swallow was in mating season.
It's the Grasshopper Sparrow, get your story straight

Maybe that had something to do with it, but I remember talking to a friend, who is a long-time industry guy, at the show, and he explained that the stage was moved forward because the show was badly undersold.

Misremembered. You are correct.
Park Service Announces July Fourth Fireworks Show on National Mall
I just never felt right about the National mall being rented out no matter what the money is used for…

Free concerts on the mall? Bring it on

Ticketed shows? No…

Now I know it’s a fine line cause they have marathons and events for fundraisers for different causes all the time but I think that’s a bit different

I mean where do you draw the line..next thing you know there’s a permanent Julian’s America country club on the mall with a bar on the south lawn of the White House!

The funds were for preservation of the Mall…
Also it's weird to call the 'polo grounds' the mall, it more like an field next to the tidal basin
wasn't actually on what people consider 'the mall'

Did the White House and National Mall move to Travilah and no one told me?

I just said I don’t care what the funds are for..reread my post

I think it’s the same concept: land that is for the people to enjoy! I mean people play volleyball near the mall..

It’s not land meant for private business
And it was you sidehatch who initially posted it was the mall!!
