Just Announced

when i looked at the google cache, it seemed the images from the original author were missing, unless they were trying to say the image without the text was the original….if thats the case, then yeah its pretty clear it's copied…..when i took graphic design in college, i was always stunned by the amount of work that people clearly copied directly from someone and then called it their own by changing a few things around.  I was always disappointed that the professors never addressed copyright stuff.

that being said, I own quite a few El Jeffe posters and will continue to buy the ones I like, copied or not.

That's the same headline Pitchfork used in reporting this big story.

Yeah, it's clear that on a few of the prints, the original poster was loaded into adobe illustrator (or whatever software) and then altered. It's more than just a concept being copied, so it's hard to play the unintential card.

Lots of other artists copy source material (Fairey, Mr Brainwash) but this seemed much sneakier since Jefe was ripping on his contemporaries, rather than an iconic Campbell's Soup can or a picture of Muhammed Ali.

El Jefe is a talented dude, no doubt, and I think he's eventually going to re-gain everyone's approval by making awesome, original prints. And I'll buy them. But his inability to own up to this 100% bothers me.

I've seen a couple of shows (Josh Ritter w/ Justin Earle, BR549) there for the Groovin' in the Garden concert series. GREAT place to see a show.
Very nice lineup. Speaking of great places to see a show…

Well before the 5/27 listing disappeared from ticketfly, the tickets were going for $35.

Thanks for that– now I just have to decide whether or not I think they're going to change up the set at all for the two shows
