Pretty sure Hatch is a fan.
I don't know what it is, but some people here and in my personal life, just live on this line of reasoning
"you like these bands with young girls because you are a creeper"

I know this is a me thing and just need to ignore the haters

but I feel my track record shows I love music of all types.  In the last decade, that taste has favored female fronted/female based bands/songwriters.  For the previous 30 years, I pretty much ignored 98% of female contributions to music in my personal listing
and let me be clear, there is a ton of output by females that is outright garbage and I don't support at all
Also, the best/innovative music typically comes from the young (at least the stuff I like)

But it's never been about 'old dude wanting to creep on young women' vibe for me

Do I love beauty and attractive people,  hell yeah I do
Do I think someone who is willing to get up in front of an audience and perform 10X more attractive, yes I think that is a very attractive trait …male or female

But I'm there for the performance, the talent, the music, that the performer is hot is near the bottom of my criteria

but I for one am not there to creep

again I realize this is my own insecurity on this topic, but just felt the need to get it out of my brain

and yes I love the last dinner party's first album and it's been on heavy rotation
but I put it on and listen and don't oggle photos of them as to why I like them
Real "doth protest too much, methinks" vibes

Pretty much the same.

All of my "Best of" lists for the last 5+ years have been female dominated. I just think females are putting out the better music these days. If you look at Metacritic and year end critic lists, others seem to think so as well.

Being in an otherwise female household helps too. My daughter pretty much just listens to women singers and my wife pretty much despises all men, so maybe those things influence as well.

That said, there's so much good music out there that nothing makes it into heavy rotation for me for too long. I listened to the last Last Dinner Party album maybe a half dozen times (and liked it a lot), but moved onto other stuff. New album is coming out, I:'ll see how that one goes.

I do notice if an artist (female or male) is visually appealing. To me it adds to the appeal. As Tammy said, After all, I'm just a man,.

I almost ended my post with that
but I've just encountered this response so much about my choice in music and just felt the need to get this off my chest
It’s a complex issue. Above my pay grade.

My disparate current thoughts

-traditionally a rock and roll star was someone either everyone wanted to fuck or be; see Bill Graham’s description of Otis Redding live in his autobiography

- society has changed and some taboos are rather new. Witness Woody Allen’s Manhattan where the Woody Allen character- in his mid 30s- is openly dating a girl still in high school (played by Mariel Hemingway)

-We do not consciously know what we are thinking in our deepest crevices. For thousands of years there were not these taboos that exist today. Incest for example was far more common (according to genetics studies). There may be a repressed longing for youth that we cannot understand or accept.

-Youth is beautiful in it of itself. Youth is sexy. Just looking at youth can make an old man feel alive. Don’t people long for their youth?

I think as far as modern societal standards as long as we don’t publicly objectify women (young or otherwise) men are on solid ground.

I don't know, I find people in their 30's and early 40's to be the most attractive.

And the members of the Last Dinner Party are 25-29, so it's not like we're talking about teenagers here.
well JDV says kids are in the 24 and 35 years old range now, so who knows for sure
