He threw in more than one or two Frames songs at the IOTA. I'd say they made up nearly half the set. Glen also played "Leave" off The Swell Season when I saw The Frames last fall, so it's not quite as separate a project as you might think, froggylizzard. The song "Falling Slowly" is on both The Swell Season and the new Frames album, for example.

" Glen Hansard of the Frames " (with members of The Swell Season) played at Iota and Tin Angel, " The Swell Season" are supporting Damien Rice. I don't think it would be very polite of Glen to play Frames songs while billed as "The Swell Season"

He wrote the song "Leave" and is so entitled to sing it at a Frames show. He and Marketa Irglova both wrote "Falling Slowly" and thats why it appears on both albums.
Well, so much for hoping to see Of Montreal at the club this time around:

3/6 State Theatre again.

Their last show there was a good time and I'm sure this one will be too though.
Hopefully this one won't be 18+ again!!
It is. I think the state is always 18+.
I've been to a couple shows there. Maybe minors can get in with an adult?
If you're under 18, you can come in with only your parent I think. Doesn't matter to me as that's a fe weeks after I turn 18.
i've been to a couple of shows where there were kids (like 12 & under) in the audience, they were having pre-show dinner with their parents. this would be in accordance with the ST's rules:

"Unless otherwise indicated (on ticket face or on calendar page), all shows are age restricted to 18+, valid ID required. Persons under the age of 18 may attend performances if accompanied by a parent. There is a $3 security fee (charged at the door) for persons under the age of 21."

you might want to call them: 703.237.0300
Thanks for the info! Now to convince my Dad to come along…
consider yourself lucky that it's an Of MTL show - should be do-able, depending on the parental. imagine trying to convince dad to come along to a GWAR or Slayer gig… or the follow-up you'd have to endure if you succeeded
nice! we get of montreal for 2 days in new york. cant wait to see kevin's outfits this time around.

Dude, you're mincing words. The tour in October was specifically to support The Swell Season. It was billed as such. The phrase "of The Frames" was added to Glen's name by the venues to get more people to show up.

By your reasoning, it was not "polite" for Glen to play Frames songs at those show, either, while Marketa sat on the side. She even helped with a couple. And if Glen is free to play any song he wrote at a Frames show, then why not at a Swell Season show? By your reasoning, isn't it impolite to the other band members for Glen to play solo/side project material while billed as The Frames?

For the record, I'll agree that they very well may not play any Frames songs, or very few. But I say that because they'll be opening, and won't have a lot of time like they did on the last tour, not because they're billed as The Swell Season.

I really don't know why you're making such a big deal out of this. You're acting like the suggestion that Glen might play a few Frames songs with The Swell Season is a personal insult or something.
Coachella Expands To Three Days, Country Fest To Follow

November 20, 2006, 11:15 PM ET

Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival will expand to a three-day event for the first time in 2007 when it overtakes the Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif. on April 27-29. The following weekend (May 5-6), Coachella promoters Goldenvoice will launch an as-yet-unnamed country music festival at the same venue, featuring George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Sugarland and Willie Nelson.

According to a spokesperson, the new event will sport four performance stages: the main stage, an "outlaw" stage, a bluegrass stage and a "storytelling" area, the latter of which will feature appearances by "Prairie Home Companion" creator Garrison Keillor and Texas poet laureate Red Steagall.

Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, Nickel Creek, Ricky Skaggs, Earl Scruggs and Sparrow Quarter featuring Bela Fleck will also perform at the inaugural festival.

Ironically, while country music is a consistently strong seller in southern California, the area's lone country station, KZLA, abandoned the format in favor of a pop playlist earlier this year.

The expansion comes eight years into Coachella's existence, during which time the event has become the premiere yearly musical destination for thousands of fans around the world. The lineup for the 2007 edition of Coachella will not be announced until late January or early February, but Mexican duo Rodrigo y Gabriela recently confirmed to Billboard.com they would be participating.
