This is true.  And for that, I apologize.  I personally never understood all the praise for AC.  And the ridiculous internet hype for MPP.  *Shrug*

agreed
its funny cause they play it incessantly on XMU and all my friends play it endlessly and thus, i have heard it 74 times now.  On the 49th time, i realized it was very good.

I am addicted to "my Girls" now, but it begs the question.  Is an album you must listen to 49 times in order to appreciate it really a good album?

Still, i must be proud as they are the best thing to come out of baltimore since Frank Zappa.

Maybe you've realized that you have no choice but to like it?

Being a college fellow, I'm proud to say I've completely avoided the album altogether.  I can't even name a song off of the album.

And Zappa>>>>>>>AC.  Let's not even compare.
nothing says baltimore like the old hammerjacks.  nothing.

is toad's place worth a visit?  my trip to see a show at the national made me feel good to be in richmond, which is rare.

Toad's Place doesn't have the cache of The National, but it's a fine, clean venue with good sounds and sightlines.

Thanks for the heads up that I missed the date, Joe :)
Joe texted me this bulletin as I was on a train to NYC to see AC yesterday. ;D

They'll most likely have a whole new batch of songs ready by the time this tour rolls around and MPP songs will be kept at a minimum (although "In the Flowers," "My Girls," "Summertime Clothes," "Daily Routine," "Guys Eyes," "Lion in a Coma" and "Brother Sport" all sounded great last night!)

I read on p4k that they were going to do the tour in support of MPP, not their usual "you'll only hear songs from albums we haven't released yet" act.
I just saw that, too. Kind of a buzzkill.

It'll be my third time seeing the MPP set.

They did have one new song in the set last night which sounded really good. The reworked "Slippy" was fun, too. And the reworked "Banshee Beat" was interesting. Slowed down to half the original's tempo if not slower. There's also a reworked version of "Winter's Love" which I've yet to hear.
Winter's Love is my favorite song by them.
