another artist poached from the 930…… last dc show was  9 9 9 at the 930.. darn  , i'd much rather see them at the 930
There were some weird moments throughout that show. Like his anti-Them Crooked Vultures rant.
Amazed how big these guys are getting. What is driving it…NPR? KEXP? They sound OK, but like so much new stuff it all sounds like a uber-sincere Arcade Fire/Mumford & Sons mashup after a while. It's Bob Boilen's world, we just live in it.

i just saw it up there today.
Looks like no tickets for the free show?  First come first served?

Saw Of Monsters and Men a few weeks ago - enjoyed it and would certainly go to this.

Edit: confirmed by calling their box office.  Just show up.
I don't understand the appeal of this band either.

Also at The NorVA on June 13
I thought OMAM were great at SXSW and at the Black Cat this week. Definitely better live than on record.
This is the festival that's hurting me to have to miss. So much Psychedelic and Shoegazey goodness!

Seriously.

I need to move to Austin.  Liked what I saw there and the place holds festivals on a weekly basis, it seems.  And I'd attend just about every one of them.

Nowadays, The Telescopes just means Stephen Lawrie with a backup band doing Telescopes music. They've been playing a lot of shows around the UK for a couple years now. He usually uses a couple different friends of mine bands. Mostly One Unique Signal but occasionally The Fauns. He's even used 93MillionMilesFromTheSun. All great bands. Sort of think it may have a lot to do with where he's playing and which band is closest. One Unique Signal is in London, The Fauns are in Bristol and 93MillionMilesFromTheSun are in Doncaster, though I think 93MMFTS only backed up once and it was in London.

Yup.  All good reasons not to.  Though Maryland's gov is nothing to be proud of, either.  :(

Yeah, O'Malley doesn't demonize the poor, nor minorities, nor homosexuals and invests in education, infrastructure and the future. What a fucking embarrassment to humanity.

::)
He is not Rick Perry, though.

I would almost take Sarah Palin over Rick Perry. Almost.
