That sounds like something WalkOnBy would say.

I think the Club is still a good fit for AC. Merriweather will feel like a cavern when they play it. Will they fill much more than the pit?

[li]They can sell out multiple nights at the club[/li]
[li]Maybe not a sell out but at least 10K[/li]
[li]It's a Saturday[/li]
[li]Maybe they'll play MPP[/li]
[li]Time for a new album?[/li]

Yes, they could probably sell out two or three nights at the club.
Doubt they could pull 10k even on a weekend, though.
They do have ten new songs that you can listen to
here.

They have been trying out new songs in their latest trek in California. I heard the audio of one show and it sounded okay, but I wasn't impressed when they tried the same tactic with MPP songs before releasing it as well.
Growing up in baltimore, Animal Collective fell in love with Merriweather growing up just as I have. Here's hoping they give the venue it's due and play the album in it's entirety as they should have back in '09.

If I ever hear a track from that record live again, it would be too soon. They only played Brother Sport during the show I linked on this page. They played that album almost exclusively between 2007 and 2009. They are probably as sick of it as I am.

Animal Collective really didn't come off well at Coachella. I was pretty close to the main stage and they really did not hold the crowd's attention well at all. Many people left and many more sat down and stopped paying attention.
The new songs sounded decent, but they need to step up their show to play big places and have it hold the attention of a large crowd.

i don't doubt that they sucked (AC have never done much for me), but spin seemed to think they were good:

i always enjoyed the days of when it was the spin way of thinking and the rolling stone way of thinking about music. to each their own and all that. i got a free subscription to rolling stone after buying tickets on ticketmaster recently. it seems to have changed in nature and slighted view. has spin remained the same because i never bother to read spin?

I would love to hear a new batch of songs live and little more the next time I catch them but it sounded to me from that SF recording like they were still in the development process.

In the Birchmere music vibe but much better food,
Hill Country has been open on 7th Street for a few weeks.
They have stage in the basement with mostly local roots/americana/bluegrass acts and the occasional national acts.
The Holmes Brothers play 4/23
BBQ is decent but priced for the location.
