Just Announced

Beach House and Celebration are relatively new so there's still time for them to ditch the losers but they haven't yet.
I doubt Katrina of Celebration dumps the "losers" aka her husband Sean Antanaitis (and the driving force of the music) and their good friends.  Also, they started in 2004 so I am not sure that an almost decade old band would be considered new.  (Maybe you were joking?)

27 October
Gary Numan - Black Cat
George Clinton & the P Funk Allstars - Howard Theatre

Jeez October 27th is stacked.  Those two plus Pearl Jam, plus Kurt Vile, plus Man Man, and also Minus the Bear?  Nice. (I will probably be at George Clinton or Kurt Vile)

Also Celebration's Manifesto:
    MANIFESTO

    Morning 2013

"I am the prodigal son, writing a letter to my father"

    Dear Reader,

In 2009, The Electric Tarot journey, began as an enthusiastic but wounded utopian dream, "Hello Paradise ". With it, we leaked and streamed into every welcome home. Our past was a spring board that propelled us, as we dove into the deep unknown and with the help of our friends and Friends Records, we hammered out a new existence. One that offered us freedom to give it all away.

So from the safety and shelter of Night Worm studios, we licked our wounds with synthesizers and bells. We adopted new members. The door was open and the sun poured in. Such hubris and naivete, fed the creation. Eventually we realized how long it took for people to notice, or even hear what we were up to. Celebrating, we are still hitting drums, bleeding on mics and weaving organic tapestry. We play shows to pay for studio time. Some of our die-hard fans have donated to our cause and made all thus far possible. We are so thankful. We will continue the Tarot journey. Our hope is to make the music more visible and more available. We've learned so much on DIY mountain.

We now have a strong head-start with a big bag of finished songs and more on the way. We welcome the next stage in our journey, and humbly accept the assistance of those who have a heart to hear us and help us. peacelightlove

"The web is incredibly subversive, simply for the fact that all information is there and available in a world where control of access to information has always been a game. So the way I see it is, the psychedelic people need to use the new information technologies to build art, of a type, that is more powerful, more compelling than the world has ever seen before, call it virtual reality, call it multimedia, whatever you want. It's basically walk into, walk around art, and then the boundaries will fall." -Terrence Mckenna

Jesus, if that band gets even a whiff of success, she's gonna dump those 3 losers so fast. There is no less secure a job than as the bandmate in a group with a female singer.

A fun campfire game is to try and think of a female-fronted band, with at least 3 albums in their discography, where the chick singer did not at some point release a solo album. There's one pretty major answer and then it gets tough.

Beach House, Lush, Celebration, Garbage, Cocteau Twins…

Sade, The Divinyls, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Brazilian Girls, Altered Images, The Selecter, Goldfrapp, Shonen Knife

Karen O. did have a solo album. It was for that movie. It is actually one of my favorite albums of the year it came out.

But all the members of YYYs contributed to the soundtrack too…
Anyone who had a ticket to the cancelled Animal Collective show gets first crack at buying tickets for 12/1, check your email for info.  General sale is Friday and it will sell out pretty fast.
Come on, Sade is a band like Madonna is a band.
And Will Gregory could walk through the crowd at a Goldfrapp concert and be totally unrecognized.
It's been a minute since I've been back on here. Hope all is well with everyone. And I hope I can post this here since. Come on thru if you get a chance. Should be a good time.

Disagreed. The band is named after her and it's been her and her 3 band mates for the past 30 years as the core band. She will add session players when recording and additional musicians and back up singers when touring, but it has been the 4 of them since the early 80's.

On a related note, I can't be the only one that thinks Sade (as the person, not the band) is one of the most beautiful women in the world?

Yeah, pretty sure when the official website says …

"Soldier of Love is only the sixth studio album the band Sade have released during their 25 year career, and the first since Lovers Rock in 2000. For Sade herself, as the lynchpin of the group's songwriting effort, it's a simple matter of integrity and authenticity"

… they're a band.

Sure.  Though I doubt Az would have any interest in LE1F/Antwon or the Mater Suspiria Vision movie.  We both like a lot of weird, non-mainstream music.  But not always the same weirdness.

Did anyone mention this yet?
