Just Announced

^^ I'm guessing it's one of the other City Winery venues…..
If City Winery does open a DC music venue they are going to duke it out with Ramshead Annapolis primarily and also the Birchmere.. also a little bit Jammin' Java/the Hamilton…its just going to drive up ticket prices for the consumer….. just looking at the NYC I spot one show that doesn't come to DC already

http://www.citywinery.com/newyork/tickets.html/

Art Garfunkel where $75 got you a barstool..

I can see the benefit for City WInery.. they will be able to offer artists a package deal for multiple cities…

I think this is primarily bad news for Ramshead Annapolis and I guess that could be kind of good news as having to travel to Annapolis from Northern Virginia is a bitch..
^ I agree that this is definitely a(nother) direct competitor to the Rams Head, and also the point about the City Winery being able to artists a "package deal" for multiple cities is a good one…. as someone pointed out, there used to be a dearth of venues like this around the DMV, now there's a glut of them….

It looks like the NYC City Winery that my informer once gave us a tour of.
I should add that even though getting to Ramshead Annapolis has been hard for me when I  have made it there i've had a really really good time.. I love the place itself… the beer selection, for my lame taste, is great.. prices are very very reasonable..

I met Pete Best there.. saw Lou Donaldson (awesome..caught him in the nick of time as I think he has stopped playing..and he was in good form)… Nellie McKay.. Buckwheat Zydeco.. Allen Toussaint. (the one show I did not enjoy that much cause even though I had what should have been really good table seats the giant piano on stage basically obscured Allen Toussaint)…I must have seen something else but its become rare that I go there..

but its a hard place to get to for me… I end up having to cut through DC and you have to leave very early not to have a terrible time of it making it…. for Nellie McKay we got a hotel room as I recall..

the City WInery will of course be far more expensive than Ramshead Annapolis for the same show… you'll see.. and it will be bigger. and food and drinks will be more expensive also…

another venue that will suffer from the City WInery might be AMP Strathmore which I have not been to yet..

What an atrocious display of crap that was last night.
What an atrocious display of crap that was last night.

Oh, it wasn't that bad.  Except for Hetfield's mic.  And too much pyro.  And Ms. Gaga bugging Lars too much.  It was fun.
Maybe better if the band participated in the Bee Gees tribute?

Ms. Gaga should learn to walk away while on a high note as her SB performance was two thumbs up.

everything you said in this is exactly my problem in reverse, the Rams Head is close by and easy to get to for me whereas everything in DC/NoVa is 70-90 mile round trip where I've gotta deal with heavy traffic going in…. I won't do Nissan/Wolftrap on a weeknight no matter how much I want to see someone playing there…. I'll make those trips for stuff I HAVE to see, but if I'm not absolutely gung ho about something, I'm most likely skipping it…..
