Just Announced

Just checked Howie Day's site and they're alternating opener/headliner slots during the tour. 'Phonics are opening for Howie in DC, alas, so get there early!

why is it Howie Day AND Stereophonics, would be off for them to open
i saw him do a long solo acoustic in-store set maybe 11 years ago or so. Was entertaining. Especially nice Gram Parsons covers. Worth seeing once (especially for free), but wouldn't bother again.

I saw Evan Dando scheduled elsewhere too - maybe Rams Head? Does he put on a good show?

Erm, tix are already on sale for this show via Tickets.com and at the 9:30. I stopped by the 9:30's ticket office Tuesday evening and bought them.

Evan Dando, yeah, don't give him your money, he doesn't deserve it at this point.

He did the same thing at a Club I work at. He just put his guitar down and walked off the stage after playing for about 40 minutes. His Tour Manager told us he was upset because some people in the back of the room were talking. Oy, Fame + Pretty Boy + Junkie = Unjustified Prima Donna. He came back pretty quickly and finished his set after we told him he wouldn't be paid since he had broken the contract (contract specified a 75 minute set).

Who the hell does he think he is?? I thought he was working at Walmart at this point.

The best response I've seen when someone was talking during a show was Peter Murphy….he was in the middle of a song (ballad so it was quiet) and this fart boy starting yapping in about the 3rd row. Murphy stopped in mid song. walked to the front of the stage and said, in his English accent so it had more of an impact if you ask me, "Oi! Would you mind shutting the fuck up, I'm trying to do a gig here. Cheers!" Then walked back and finished the song.

It was classic.
Actually, that's not true, thats second best..the best was Mike Scott the other week at the State Theatre…he started playing the intro to a song and extended it a bit so he could say his bit, it went something like, "I know some of you have travelled a long way to listen to me sing tonight, I've travelled a long way to sing for you and Richard has travelled a long way to play piano for you…so for those of you who insist in talking would you mind going outside to talk so the rest of us can enjoy the show."…it went on longer than that, but you get the idea. It was another classic, and brought instant silence from the gobshites at the bar.

Thats actually my problem with the state theatre, it fosters a bar atmopshere, where you can talk and shoot the shit the whole time. Well, that's my second problem. My first is that only shit bands play there, and it is really good space.

Aw, what's the matter? Wouldn't they let Exit Clov play there or something?

Funny, no they probably would…the problem is they have so many crappy jam bands play there. The space is so under used too.
oh that's crap. phonics are LOADS better than howie day!

That was announced above but Metric wasn't noted yet.

Maybe Valentine's Day will be nice after all. And right after Friday the 13th! Those are always lucky Fridays for me. :D
I was just about to post on Metric – I'm looking forward to it! Maybe we need a pre-show drinkfest.
