Just Announced

Fillmore Silver Spring (along with about a hundred other Live Nation venues) agreeing to take no cut of merch sales and give bands a $1500/band/night stipend for gas+hotel.

It is not clear if this is a temporary initiative or an ongoing commitment.

I will recap this however there is a civil matter involved that is going to preclude me from doing so at this exact moment in time. Please set a reminder for 12/7 and I will be delighted to tell all.

I will say, the concert was more enjoyable than I thought it would be. And by that I mean, I never want to see Phish again — and did not in the first place, post-race — but it wasn’t an F. It was a D.

Katie Allen Greer (formally lead vocals of Priests)
is playing tonight at Rhizome DC

very unlikely I make it
Yeah, I'm "insanely excited to see her" but also "tired as shit" and "old"

Saw him for free in Richmond. He was worth the price of parking.
Trying to stay neutral on this whole artist selling merchandise issue.. But, I'm getting serious Tech Blogger vibes about the LN announcement as the devil is in the details and there are a lot of asterisks on that announcement (limited venues, timeframe, etc)  timing is also suspect given antitrust investigations, etc.  I'm seeing some push back on the announcement,  but lots of so why don't the rest of you independent venues just blindly follow suit…  the whole all music should be free Tech Blogger attitude, because artists make all their money touring, is why i stopped even reading those blogs… lots of sudden experts on the economics of music venues

why
there is no free lunch, the costs have to come from what they were going to pay the band and what they make up in tix sales/fees/merch cut

I guess this is a counter to all the IMP drag related shows (although those seemed to have stopped)
