Sounds the like booker at the FSS is falling down on the job!

Seriously, I saw Eddie on one of those 80s package tours many years ago and he was so fucked up he barely made it through one set.  I can't see how he can do two a night.

I really have no clue how the FSS is even functioning and still open after five months. They have about 10 shows a month max and it's usually a bunch of garbage.

you know . . . i went over and checked out their website, seeing how i am going there for two shows starting tomorrow, and i am curious to what kind of place it is.  wow, you are not kidding, buddy!  i've seen some shitty lineups for a place (except widespread which really now stands out as the one big band surrounded two months of "who?") in my day but for a new venue, and a new venue that has/had the potential, money, power, name, backing behind it to really do something for the fan of music, this is what you give us so far.  is that a sign of bands not willing to play there?  a sign of horribly run behind the scenes day to day operations?  or a sign that the economy cannot support another venue.  i love going to new venues and always hope the place is cool and has great beer and good sound/sight lines, nice bathrooms, appealing area, easy parking/getting there, staff that aren't asses . . . and of cource, coat check.  i'm not concerned if the fillmore does ok.  if it provides a service and people like it and that service is a good service that can survive, good for them.

You guys are aware that The Hamilton and FSS are two seperate venues, yea?

My guess is, "a sign of horribly run behind the scenes day to day operations" and actually being too large of a corporate mess to actually care about bookings. I'm very disappointed.

Regarding your other concerns… Good sound, good site lines, decent room in general… Shitty beer, shitty bar tenders, shitty systems in place.

Yes…. Hamilton bookings are shit though too.
The Fillmore and Hamilton are very disappointing so far..bookingwise…the Hamilton I'd say the jury is still out.. there's also Artisphere (huge flop)

The Fillmore actually seems to be competing with the State Theatre.. they take a few shows that would have hit the other LN venue, the Warner, poach a few from the State Theatre and other venues.. maybe one or two from the 930 and thats it..

Maybe there are just too many venues in the area.. if we look at NYC we see that Irving Plaza (which is essentially the NYC Filllmore) gets better bookings than FSS but that those acts when they hit DC are playing 930

To quote Dr. Seuss the  "…future looks dreary.." for the Fillmore…. frankly, fine with me… I'd just as soon never have to hike up to Silver Spring for shows AND avoid their security checkpoints, crummy concessions..

As someone will point out I'm sure, I had hoped they'd add to the area but they don't really seem to be doing any adding… what show have they gotten that otherwise we would not have had: Kid Rock and Thorogood? That is all I can think of.. every others how would have gone to some other area venue…

The only reason I even care is pure selfishness. I now live in Silver Spring so I was hoping for even ONE show a month that might interest me. So far, I've stepped foot in there once and don't see myself going there again in the near future.
Artisphere is definitely super disappointing. I have only been to one event there and while it went well, it is only one event in almost a year and a half. I guess the Chickfactor shows will make it two or three if you count both shows as different events.
Bill Clinton
Bender Arena
Jan. 27
So Bill Clinton, Noam Chomsky and Jeff Mangum will be in town on the same night.

There is a joke here somewhere.
There's going to be one hell of an afterparty somewhere.

it's hard to find more than one or two venues in a town that have all of this…lucky for us 930 already does.
(btw, where /what the heck is hamilton?)
It is the new 24/7 restaurant and concert venue opened/run by the Clyde's people.
they do have an event Feb 16 called Bonerama. That might make a nice (but late) valentines day date.
Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band
Verizon Center
4/1/2012
On Sale: 1/28/2012

He's open on the 2nd as well, so I bet a second show gets added that night.

That would give him 4 shows in a row, though, and I'm not sure he does that.

Actually hit the restaurant on Friday night, rather upscale for what my friends and I were looking for, but the food hit the spot.

Ah shoot, I meant March 31st.  That way he has 2 Philly shows, a day break, then 2 DC shows, then another day break before NJ.
If no one has seen the boss, I recommend seeing him.  Always puts on a great show.
;D

Bonerama are fun. (trombone heavy group out of New Orleans can't really be anything else) I caught them at Black Cat a while back. I might actually go to this.

30th and 31st are available… Would be ideal for a Saturday night!
