Film Screening:
LED ZEPPELIN PLAYED HERE
$5 Black Cat Backstage / Doors at 8:00

Led Zeppelin Played Here explores the start of the modern rock concert industry, focusing on Led Zeppelin's first month in the US, and a concert mystery: Did they play on January 20, 1969 in a suburban Maryland gymnasium, in front of 50 confused teenagers, while President Richard Nixon was celebrating his first inauguration nearby? Many swear the concert took place, but just as many cast doubt. Did it really happen? Or over forty years later, is it some sort of a 'Rock-and-Roll Rashomon' re-imagining of history? The latest film from Jeff Krulik, the man behind Heavy Metal Parking Lot, features interviews with rock writers, musicians, and several fans who claim they were there witnessing history that night.

there was a little article about this a year or two ago in the City Paper…
Ok gang… I know we all want to be a bit edgy around these parts, but most of us work for the man and therefore are behind firewalls and stuff that tracks what we see on the internet, so please be mindful of that and not post NSFW imagery.  link to it all you want and indicate it's NSFW.

signed your slightly exasperated moderators

(my belle and sebastian pre-order vinyl arrived today)
sorry Lord Kosmo…..personally i think as a society we got to get over our fear of the nipple but i understand where , as moderator, you're coming from

Love the band, a handful of those songs are good, but the rest of the album? Geez.

I will be seeing them at Echostage. Do we all hate that venue? I saw MGMT there in 2009 before it was known as Echostage and was just some skeezy venue on the edge of the east side of DC that happened to host some shows.

I'd give my left nut to hear Seymour Stein.
I saw Stevie play it at the Chickfactor party.

It's sort of like pop-country but with a different set of musical styles mixed in with "country" instead of pop. Generally Nickleback sounding rock or hiphop.

Florida Georgia Line is famous for that "I like to roll my windows down and cruuuuuuuise" song that they did with Nelly.

Its every bit as bad as you are imagining.

Combine Nickleback with Creed, give them a perpetual two day growth of facial hair, give them $250 hair cuts, dress them in clothing that would get their collectives asses kicked in any real country bar, then have them sing (or lip synch) to backing tracks about things they have never even read about let alone lived, all the while being pushed to stardom by the corporate machine.

And just when I thought Bone-Ho had the stupidest and silliest name in all of 'entertainment' one of the two chicks in this 'group' is named (wait for it) Tae Dye.  That alone should give you a clue that their music is going to suck.  This "let's see if I can came up with more of a dumb ass stage name than anyone else ever has before to cover up for my complete lack of talent" crap really has gone too fucking far.

(Can you feel it, see it, hear it today?
If you can't, then it doesn't matter anyway
You will never understand it cuz it happens too fast
And it feels so good, it's like walking on glass)
