Just Announced

I noticed one of the important Connells is not with them

He now sells real estate in NC

I love One Simple Word
The Connells have started playing Richmond around three times a year in the last 2-3 years. I was always sort of “meh” on then but went to see them once and they’re actually really great live. I’ve explored more of their back discography as a result. Highly recommended even if not 100% the original lineup.

Sounds like rockin' good time to me…already picked up my tickets
I plan to go!

This thread has become a metaphor for the state of rock music
If rock and roll is an attitude it will never die….

If rock and roll is a musical style that goes with each generation and embodies that attitude then it has died over a dozen times only to be reborn each time- in a different musical guise-  for each generation

If rock and roll is simply a musical style then it was probably dead with the confluence of Chuck Berry going to jail, Little Richard going religious, Elvis joining the army and the day the music died…certainly by late 1959 or early 1960…some might even say it was killed off because it was too threatening

If rock and roll was a style where the electric guitar was the dominant instrumental voice then it died sometime in the mid to late 2000s…

If rock and roll is simply whatever music white people appropriate from black people then it’s hard for me to know what that is in 2020
While Rock + Roll may never die unfortunately we can't say the same for our armed forces just dispatched to kill brown people in service of our fascist president.

I didn't want to beat Jules to the punch, but congrats to Good Charlotte dude and Cameron Diaz on the birth of their child.

I actually might check this show out. One of my ex co-workers put me onto them and we got to film a performance of them live years when they came back to DC. Damn good band.
This is not with the Business…they split or are on hiatus

This is Roddy fooling around with keyboards by himself or something

Didn't the military folk kind of already know all of this (regardless of who is president) when they signed up?
