Dead Heart Bloom performs
this Saturday, September 22,
at Iota Club and Cafe
in Arlington, VA.

This is a full band show, performing songs from both records as well as new material.

Dead Heart Bloom plays around 11pm.

Also performing are
Jackfields and
Mason Brothers.
Never heard them…they do sound good from the myspace site though.

Jaguar: Do you mean they will perform with a string section? I've seen the youtube performance from the Iota show from 2006 and they had a string section:

Edit: They're actually offering full album downloads on their official site!

Don't know. I am assuming no string section because they hired them specifically for that '06 show. Seems they would have mentioned 'with string section' in their announcement. Then again, I could be wrong.

They are very good and Boris is an incredibly sensitive musician so it will be a good show. Wouldn't be surprised if a couple of the Phaser guys sit in as part of the band. A couple of them were with Boris onstage for the '06 show.

Btw, those albums have been up for download for ages now. For the actual discs, I'm sure they will have plenty tonight at the show for a fair price. I recommend the 1st one if you buy only one. Nice t-shirts too.

I think the interspace will survive.

1990's will be back opening for the hold steady.
The 10/13 grizzly bear/beach house show isn't at sonar; it's at 2640 performance space at st. john's church. Not sure if this was listed but I know someone here listed it as being at sonar before.
Damn so much to choose from on saturday; I'll have to do something then too.

Where? I caught Sufrajett at SXSW. Not impressive on recordings, but I thought they were great live.
Woops this was supposed to go in Joe M's thread.

Yowza, great bill, assuming this is RnR Hotel…timing is tricky, but may be worth the acrobatic logistical effort

Since when did the Black Cat start pre-selling tickets for their Backstage shows? Also, does that mean via TicketBastards or some other in person only kind of deal? Does anyone know?

Both of these bands were really good last Saturday at the Walls of SoundFest. I don't know yet if I can make it but I'm sure hoping so. (Sadly, so far it looks like work will fuck this idea up though.)

I rather enjoyed this show, although at times it seemed the song styles clashed rather than complemented (Chelsea Diaries vs. eponymous first album). I was also at their 2006 premiere show at Iota, although I got there late. (That show started earlier than I was led to expect, probably due to scheduling for the string section Boris hired for the gig that night.) Jaguar and Joe, did either of you make Saturday's show? FWIW, I didn't see any CDs or T-shirts for sale, unfortunately. (I still need to buy their second album, Chelsea Diaries.)
Mankie makes a trip north to the State Theatre!

Girlfriend In A Coma

Genre: tribute to The Smiths and Morrissey

Girlfriend In A Coma is a celebration of the art created by Morrissey and The Smiths. 20 years after the breakup of one of alternative rockâ??s most influential bands, there is no sign of a reunion from Morrissey and band mates. Girlfriend In A Coma creates an authentic experience for fans that once witnessed the brilliance of The Smiths and for those fans that have been denied the opportunity. To continue paying homage to the bandâ??s front man, Girlfriend In A Coma also performs selections from Morrisseyâ??s solo career.
