Originally posted by sweetcell:The Live Nation aspect is shocking enough, but I still can't believe Stellastarr* is playing at the Rock 'n Roll Hotel. No offense to the RnR Hotel folks, but I'm under the impression that it's a fairly small venue? Stellastarr* has sold out the Black Cat and has come close to selling the 9:30 a couple of times. Is this some kind of House of Blues-related backlash?

Originally posted by Darth Ed:by my estimate, the R'n'R hotel stage room holds about 200 people. that's what i meant when i originally wrote "on the one hand, i thought this was a step down for them since they played the 930 last time". and since when does live nation organized shows at such a small venue?!? maybe they want to move in on the bar/small venue scene <cue ominous music>

Fuck yes! Will not sleep on tickets this time around. Still baffles me that he sold out the 930 last time.

I'm sad to say that stellastarr* can no longer sell out the Black Cat after that terrible 2nd album…heh…hipsters only go to shows from acts that have good albums..

Originally posted by redsock:downstairs? 300? i find that surprising, but you'd know better so i'll defer. but the point remains: that's between a third and a quarter the size of the 930. and tix are only $12, so they're not making up through higher prices.
It holds well over 300 people…
Widespread Panic - April 4 (Wed.), 2007 Baltimore (venue hasn't been determined but rumors are the Hippodrome)
Widespread Panic April 6-7 (Fri, Sat) 2007 Washington D.C. (venue hasn't been determined but rumors are the Warner Theater)

Originally posted by Jaguar:Alas, Rishi has left the High Dials. This is a severe blow to a good band. I don't know how the rest of them will fare without Rishi's vocals, musicianship, and sensibility.
The High Dials are the good one.
It's strange - the band's Myspace page has been updated with new shows (in March) and some details about old news. No mention of his departure.
Mad Caddies opening for Pepper at the 930 Club…if anyone still cares about ska bands I used to love in high school.
(Edit: double post)
Rock & Roll Hotel's on a, um, roll:
3/4 - Rob Crow (of Pinback)
4/25 - John Vanderslice
5/15 - Mono
5/16 - Frog Eyes
They were closed for a few days last week. Any word if they fixed the sound?
